Perhaps travelling during COVID made this a more pleasant experience than it might normally be, but I have to say Stena offer a very easy option for those that need to travel by car.

Having paid for premium, which again probably enhanced the experience, boarding and disembarking was quick and painless.

The lounge was quiet and the snacks and drinks on offer are okay, but nothing more. Lots of sweets but very little in the way of savoury snacks so it's either a sugar coma or ordering off the menu.

I also booked a sleeper berth and the rooms just felt grubby. Dust on the TV, phone, and kettle made me not want to touch much, and made me question how clean the sheets and towel were.

Overall not a particularly premium experience - definitely not one i'd opt for if I was making a leisure journey, (especially given the eyewatering price!) but if needs must then it's absolutely do-able.

Mind your checked in items, electric scooter got stolen on board.
I was a foot passenger on a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin, traveling with an electric scooter.
Once arrived the scooter was not there anymore. They let me bring the scooter on the bus from the terminal to the ferry and they also suggested to leave the scooter on the bus saying that the bus would have been locked. Surprised of that I took some photos.
The bus does not get locked at all!
After raised the question immediately, i asked to investigate on board checking the cctv cameras and after 2 weeks from the fact I did no receive any response email or calls or any other support from any of the people I contacted. To date no one replied and the scooter is still missing!

I do think Stena are the best Irish sea service, the Adventurer is a very big modern boat with good facilities

Great trip... easy ...great staff...flat sea, wonderful. Only criticism is that the breakfast needs looking at.. It's out dated and needs to be better.. much better...I would imagine it's been served like it for years..probably with the same person in charge....Try and get some enthusiastic younger chef in charge of your food.. It will go along way..

Easy to check in and get on board. Really nice accessible cabin. Comfy beds, loads of room for wheelchair and delicious biscuits

Used Stena Estrid.

Lovely boat and modern compared to the Adventurer. But please change the chef or hire "a chef". The quality of food is abysmal and choice is worse especially in the Truckers lounge. Realistically I wouldnt serve the food to a dog. Need to raise the quality of the food to Irish Ferries standards or you will lose customers and Hauliers.

3 stars for the food. Boat and staff are 5 star!!
