Situated in holyhead right next to the train station so the trains and ferry terminals are linked.

Always a very busy port. We took a ferry over to Dublin as foot passengers few years ago.

Not the prettiest of places. You know when a ferry has come in by the amount of traffic leaving the A55.

We're here today on a drizzly day just watching the boats.

Good access to the town and buses

Does everything a port needs to do really. Always found it weird that the ferries out to Dublin are much quicker than the return leg. Fairly spacious waiting room, short queue times to get checked in and friendly enough staff on site (they do still have a job to do of course though) .

I have always found Hollyhead quite disappointing, with the amount of traffic that goes thru the port every day you would think the place would be better kept, it's old in places, and 1970 planning in others. Not a place to hang around in.The pictures are of the Swift and the Ulysses

The staff are very friendly. The ferry trip was brilliant as the staff ensured I was cared for. (hidden disability) they ensured I was safe when I had a seizure. And made sure I was with a member of staff while waiting to board. Cannot fault them at all.

It’s a beautiful port in Wales on Irish Sea coast. It’s just 75 miles away from Ireland. It’s easy to via sea to Ireland from here and it takes only 3 hours. There is a stunning beach with a breakwater there called Newry beach.

Pretty basic facilities but does the job and had no issues boarding. Dreadful on the return trip as all the traffic gets held up at traffic lights trying to turn right. What were they thinking when they designed that?

It's been a solid 15 years since I last passed through Holyhead and I don't think it's had one touch up in all that time, from the outside it looks dated, flaky and old; very much in need if a coat of paint and a little livening up.
That said it's always clean enough and bright enough and all the staff are very friendly, the cafe is lovely.
I dare say next time I pass through it will be exactly the same a little time capsule of passive neglect or at best minimum requirement maintainence.

Probably the best port I’ve even been to. The camaraderie in the queues was marvellous. And the staff organised the chaos perfectly. Even when I inadvertently leapfrogged a massive queue of one, I was gently put back in place by the good natured red faced “Wo wo wo “ Gavin who was not in any way rude.
