Kings

The prices are really reasonable but it's nowhere near as nice as the fish and chips you can get from Andy's up the road (near the Forester's pub). Andy's is more expensive and has more restricted opening hours but it is in a different league- a major difference is that the chips there are hand cut as opposed to the frozen ones King's buys. I realise my name is Andrew and so I might be a bit biased but that's my advice!

this fish and chips shop is very nice the food is always freshly prepared. The seating area is very comfortable, the staff is very friendly fast service nice for light diners also has bus stops nearby.

Brother and I went one evening about an hour before closing time and order two small portions of chips. He must've made us a new batch as it took so long, so we were really looking forward to fresh chips...But when we got home we realised he had made and sold us fries instead, which were terrible.
We've been going to King's occasionally for years and have always been given chips not fries...

It’s okay. Definitely not a ‘chippy’ as they don’t make their own chips! Rubbish frozen chips are served. Sausage was okay, prices are fairly cheap.

Kept me going through lockdown 1 & 2. Fish is really the best I've had. Phone ahead and collect. I go regularly and the fish is consistently perfect, really don't know how he does it, never had a bad one and I've been a lot :-)
I think some of the bad reviews are out of date tbh.

A regular Friday evening destination. Top class fish & chips freshly cooked. Good portions and reasonably priced.

Chips are frozen. Probably the cheapest he could get. And the fish is the smallest I have seen. they have the cheek to call it a large portion and charge full portion price. No wonder the shop was empty and nothing pre cooked. No one goes there. I won't be going again

Online order placed, arrived to find no order received and no food was able to me despite showing the order had been confirmed and funds taken. No substitute offered despite asking more than once if any food could be provided. Told to go back to the website and cancel the order. Could not cancel the order on their website. The site says to call. So did call and got the same person, who said they have now cancelled my order. Seems they have access now. Waiting for the funds to appear against my account. Would not recommend using the website to order.
