Please read this and review below.
After contract from the owners (Heather) with their concerns we had a complimentary meal a few weeks later. However guys the portion size is small compared to your competitors and batter was poor and lacking on the sausages. Please get back to your winning standard that we used to enjoy over many years previous 😘

Very disappointing meal not to the usual quality we have had in the past. All food was overcooked especially the Scampi which was burnt and some pieces still raw on inside. Scallops were rock hard. Only exception was the spam fritters. Come on guys get back to how it was or loose customers.

Very good fish and chips. Top peas and curry sauce. Opposite a spar for other things. Well priced. Great portion size. Cooked fresh. Does close at 7.30pm on some nights.

Food great but service is absolutely shocking!
On two previous visits to Barnstaple I’ve ordered from here. The first time online and I turned up on time to find my food hadn’t been prepared.
Last week I ordered over the phone for collection an hour later and once again I turned up exactly on time to find my order hadn’t been prepared. I politely asked why should I bother to order if the food is never ready? I got the lame excuse of “she wrote it down but never told us” whilst pointing to a handwritten list on the counter along with what I presume were the online printed orders so the excuse didn’t add up.
The shop seems to be staffed by youngsters with no one actually in charge and no system in place as to who does what.
In short, the food was really really good but I see no point whatsoever in ordering in advance as it won’t be ready so you may as well just walk in and wait

We used Whiddon valley for our meal the night before our wedding. The fish was cooked perfectly. And we are still getting compliments saying it was the best fist & chips people have ever had. Highly, highly, recommend.

Great food options and the staff are friendly and helpful. The portion sizes have considerably increased making it well worth the money so that's a great thing. The chips are cooked well and for a proper traditional fish and chips I recommend this place. Not only that they have a van which goes out around the small villages offering takeaway to the locals

Even though the cod and chips were very nice, the cod portions were very small. Even the lady serving questioned whether she had asked for mini! When questioned the fryer said it was done by weight. Definitely won't be paying over 5 quid for an over sized fish finger again!
