The Island House Takeaway

We've had many a great fish & chips takeaway from the Island House but this time dined in and had a delicious Sunday roast. It took a while to arrive but it's well worth the wait. Quality food, generous portions, spot on! Even the kid's roast was huge, we'll definitely be back to enjoy the restaurant again.

We drive all the way from Birmingham every few months just for this place. To put it simply, the best fish and chips I've had in recent years. Their battered chips is thick, crunchy and tasty. Their cod is coated in a thick and crispy batter, it's really flaky and fresh, you could not ask for more. It's made fresh to order every time we have gone.

Staff are super friendly and the service is very smooth. I highly recommend this place!

We just had cod & chips with curry sauce.
The fish was cooked nicely, nice & flakey and a good size for the money.
The chips were good enough, not the best but far from the worst we've ever had, cooked and hot.
The curry sauce was something a little different, tasted sweeter than the usual chip shop fair.
Zero waiting which surprised us for the time of day.

Disappointed to get home and realise my food is cold, still ate it because I was hungry and then as I'm almost finished I find a hair in the food. complete waste of time as they close at 9pm but remained open to serve up left over food.

Ordered chips, expecting them to be battered but they weren’t. Last time I went they were battered so not sure if you have to ask for them or they forgot to add the batter. Chips served in a bag which makes them soggy, it was a big portion for a regular but who wants soggy chips with salt and vinegar just on the top half of the chips. (Had to add my own salt later). Man who served me was nice and polite but the girl who gave me my order looked unhappy to be there and it was an inconvenience calling out the order number. Won’t make the effort of going again even though the chips are nice, as it’s too hit and miss with what your getting.

We had lunch - absolutely incredible 😍 Fish, chips & curry sauce, the best I’ve ever had! The fish was so tasty & fresh and the price was brilliant value!

Can not wait to visit again😋👌🥰
