Caldicot fish Bar

If i could leave less i would, firstly i tried this place a few weeks back, and waited 50minutes for fish and chips twice and sausage and chips, i got handed my order saying "i think that's right" and got home to find the fish was missing.
With it being under new ownership i thought it may have been a bad night so tonight i gave them another go.
Me and my partner tonight waited 35mins for fish and chips and battered sausages with chips. The place is cash only and when giving them cash they had no change in the till. We were told our order would be 7 or 8 minutes. They then had to come out and ask me for my order again because they had lost/forgotten my order. They didn't seem to be organised or know what they were doing like putting a plastic bag of some of our food in a heated tray with other food in an attempt to keep it warm while cooking the rest. The batter on all food was soggy on both occasions. They seem to have taken on a chip shop without knowing how to first run one and have made it harder for themselves by taking just eat orders from the off. I found, who im guessing the owner to be very rude to both his staff and his customers. Safe to say i will not be returning, there is two other very good chippys in the area much more worth my money.

Very disappointed usually very good. Requested 2 chicken and mushroom pies, when I got home found I'd been given 2 different ones. The pastry on one wasn't cooked. Was amazed that 5 chicken nuggets cost 3.20 when usually I have 10 for that price.

Absolutely terrible chips were under cooked by miles. My mate sausage was very dry and he was struggling to breathe after it. Shocking standard, felt sorry for the old women working nothing on the self for her to offer. Won’t be coming back

We visit Caldicot regularly but are not residents. We have never eaten from this take away before and almost didn't due to the reviews on Google. But we are glad we did. The fish and chips were freshly cooked and delicious. A bit pricey but that is becoming the norm in this inflationary world. We would recommend.

I've cycled through Caldicot plenty of times, and never noticed this chippy before, glad I saw it today, the fish was very nice, but the chips were the best I've had maybe ever! Will be having a large portion next time! Even some great tables outside to eat it.

The best fish I've had in caldicot . the food is high quality and crisp . The staff are all incredibly friendly and you can tell they take pride in the food they make. I would recommend to anyone!!
Oh and also the kebabs are fantastic.

I have given it 1 star for the can of coke,half the chips I was afraid to digest incase they cut my throat and the gravy was bland AVOID
