Wainfelin Fish Shop

The shop isn't anything particularly special and is very hard to miss but the fish and chips were some of the best I'd ever had. Full disclaimer, we were on our way to Steelhouse festival so by the time we were eating we had walked back and from the car numerous times, set up a tent and collapsed with a beer in hand. Surprisingly the food was still warm and it was the last tasty meal I ate that weekend.

Absolutely stunning fish, chips and curry sauce.. my opinion best fish and chip in Pontypool right now.

Very expensive - £7 for what looked like a gold fish sized portion.

There were no proper signs to say what they had or prices. No food was prepared and in the heated area.

My advice would be travel an extra mile and go to scammels in talywain where you can get 3 fish bits the same size as that one for less money.

On a plus note the chips did taste OK.

This was a brilliant chip shop before but £10.10 for a tiny fish and portion of chips is unreal! If I had seen the fish before placing rhe order there is no way I would have bought it. I feel sorry for the poor lady behind who also ordered a few portions of fish and chips.

Best fish and chip shop around! Lucky to have it near where I live, known the owners since I was little and they know exactly what I like without fail.

Quality food, chips are always cooked nice, Fish is superb.

Wainfelin wouldn't be the same without Dai and Ceri.

What a lovely couple so friendly and I felt like I've known them for years and this was the first time I have met them, beautiful fish and chips the batter was the best I've tasted in years
