The Friary

Big shock in store for regular customers. The Friary's chips have gone up from £1.30 for a large bag (last year) to £2 this year!. That is a big price hike. What's more the portion of chips you get is smaller and the chips you get are small and sharp edged. They stick in your gums. Nasty things. This chippy was my absolute favourite and I was always treating myself to a bag of their lovely cheap chips. Now I will never go there again. Will the phrase 'cheap as chips' have any meaning ever again?

A message to The Friary - 'Please review your pricing and portion sizes. Bring back the good old chips you used to make and sell. We don't want to eat tiny sharp bits of fried potato and pay £2 for the privilege'.

Hit and miss but lately a solid miss. Hard chips again on my latest visit, they'd been waiting a while before I bought them. Shame as has been nice in the past. Hopefully will again.

Why people who have previously left reviews and have moaned at such small things is beyond me. Quality of food is outstanding in terms of chip shops its spot on. Always pop in when im near and would highly recommend :)

Love the Friary. Grown up portions of chips and really nice fish. Favourite meal of mine is the gravy special. Sausage in batter, chips and lush gravy poured over it in a container.
Stunning grub. They do deliveries too for a small fee. Peters Pies mean your favourite products with awesome chips. Great quality and value.

I bought fish ( cod ) & chips was really nice, would have preferred them in a box which were available but were wrapped in paper instead don't really understand why but there you go ... I didn't say about it just paid and left....

Proper portion sizes and really friendly staff.
Great quality food, and my favorite are the Specials.. Chips, sausage in batter with either gravy, beans or curry.

Great food and great service. Definitely recommend.

I always love going here when I fancy chips, the staff are nice and helpful
