Blue Ocean Fish & Chips ( Restaurant - Take Away )

Quality fish and friendly staff but far too expensive. I know rent is high but please decrease the prices slightly if you can because over £20/kg for fresh squid won’t keep me coming.

After a long time I wanted to have fish and chips because it was Friday so I went to my favourite fish and chips shop. Unfortunately I ordered and than wanted to pay by card but couldn’t for more than once now in these days it should not even happen that your payment Terminal would be off everyone uses cards now so I don’t understand why. On the other hand the food is great.

First time we have visited this place since the recent change in management and the experience was extremely disappointing. And is the first time I have given such a low rating for a food place. We visited on a Friday evening (which is usually a busy night for many take-aways). There was plenty of staff on hand, and to place your order and make payment - they are very quick at! Thereafter, it was all largely downhill. We were told the wait would be 30mins….it turned out to be 58mins!! (A number of other customers upon exiting were complaining of similar issues). We got home and found the fish batter and scampi to be over cooked (borderline burnt). It seems this is a recurring issue given other comment reviews. The fish meat was ok as to were the chips.

Prices have increased significantly since our last visit, portions of the large chips (£3.80) have decreased as too have the sizes of the fish!!

All in favour of supporting local businesses however the service, standards, quality of food and speed of service, needs to significantly increase if this place is to retain local business!

Excellent food. Ordered first time and food was fantastic, couldn’t fault it. Second time however we ordered and it was very disappointing…however we called up and explained that the fish was not very good. Got a replacement order delivered by one of the managers. This shows their dedication to their business to strive for excellence. I will order again in the future

First time trying under new management used to be the best chip shop but now it's awful. Chips were soggy and cold and haddock tasted like it has been sat there for days. Had to throw it in the bin couldn't eat it. Don't waste your time trying it now plenty of other really good eateries along the lane.

My brother ordered over the phone & collected on a Friday night, the food was lovely & as they were about to close they kindly gave us larger portions, we are very grateful for their kind generosity and will definitely be ordering more regularly!

Disappointed with the quality and the size of the large fish. Fish was a little mushy under the batter so I guess it was frozen before being cooked. Chips were ok but expensive at 3.80 a portion.

Have been using this establishment on and off for 20 years. Went today and noticed it was being run by different people. I ordered 2 large cod and large chips.
Chips were fine, the fish was disappointing. The larger of the two 'cod' was rubbery and tasted different. Upon tasting the other cod, there was a hugely noticeable difference.
I'm not sure if I was given haddock by mistake, but I was left extremely disappointed having parted with just shy of £30 for my order. It'll be a long time, if ever, before I return. Extremely disappointed.
