Freddies Fish & Chips

Best fish and chips I have tasted in a very long time, I was going to say best in the North East but that subjective, but definitely top 5. Batter stays crisp even ages after others go soggy. I really don't understand the negative reviews on here - people with vested interests perhaps? Bargain at the moment 2 for 1 on a large each Friday.

Absolutely the worse fish and chips I have ever had. Chips were not fresh, seemed as though they had been cooked a few times. Fish was poor quality and the batter was really greasy and you could taste the grease.

Will not be going back and would not recommend.

My workmate treated me to a lunch. Even though I didn't pay for it but I felt compelled to review.
It must of been very windy when he came out and blew most of the chips away. Curry was nice and provided a good covering over the few chips I got. His chip butty was also lacking chips . You shouldn't be able to space your chips out to cover the bun !!
Over all ..... If your not hungry and need to get rid of a tenner quickly then this is the ideal place. Otherwise just go to nouvo cuisine restaurant , it's cheaper and portions are bigger.

Solid fish&chips place. Generous portions and great value with daily deals. Absolutely love their scampis - the juices burst in your mouth. Really lovely staff too

I've been here quite alot, I come down from work for lunch now and again and every single time it's perfect. More than I can say for bells. The lunch deals are awesome value too £4 for a good amount of chips and the small fish is a damn good size! Highly highly recommend! I don't understand why the score is as low as it is? Should be 5 all day long.

Got kids sausage meals and fish and chips for me and my wife. Had a bad experience from a lot of chippy's around Durham. Gave Freddies a try, all the meals delicious. Staff very friendly and keen to help. Freddies will definitely be my Fish n Chip shop of choice from now on.

Visit this fish shop every Friday along with my husband always a warm welcome from Denise and her staff on entering shop they always know what our order is ( two lightly batted haddock) ready in five minutes.never had a bad portion of fish and chips yet recommend this place for fish and chips without any hesitation. Always look forward to Friday

Not the best customer service I’ve received, but definitely one of the best fish n chips I’ve ever had. Fresh and Delicious
