Why is this place over 4 stars? I would give it zero if I can!!! It must be the worst Fish & Chips I have ever had! The worst!

Friend recommend this place he said it’s one of the best... and when I told him about our visit he said he last went to this place was 2 years ago... what happened? If you look at my photos you will lost your appetite too...

First the starter prawn cocktail - I have never ever had a WARM prawn cocktail before and the taste is not even nice, the prawns texture was old and chewy.

The breaded fish was rock hard, super over fried... so we had to change it to their famous battered fish. Yes the portion is big but... the batter taste just greasy, no seasoning in the batter either, the fish inside also tasteless... the chips if you have a look they are soggy yet Some are burnt... how is that possible?

The price is not cheap and I did expected high quality... But this place is the worse, not even up to normal standard. Let’s say I wouldn’t even eat or if it’s free. No way!

Lovely people cooking and service, quick service, has sit in seating area like a restaurant, the best thing is that it has gluten free fish, this maybe the only place I know in Leicester that has this option and they cook the chips in a separate fryer and not with the meat etc.

Good food, but service has gone down the chip pan. They used to have a very nice restaurant with good staff. Now you have to queue in the takeaway and take it to the 'seating area' which does not even have cutlery (I asked for a knife but they only have plastic forks now). Overflowing bins due to no staff in the seating area. I was told the seating area would have sauces and if it didn't then I should go back to the takeaway to get some, but now they charge for a little bit of ketchup. I know times are hard, but come on.

It’s been a while since I’ve been here so things may have since changed. However, if I am to compare Grimsby to some of the competitors I’ve tried out there, then I must say Grimsby’s are absolute Titans when it comes to the local fish and chippy culinary field. I was first introduced to them in 2014, I was in my second year at the University at Leicester and the Mrs recommended us getting this. Boy did Grimbsy change the way I looked at your local chip shops. Because when I went back to London after graduating, Fish and chips just wasn’t the same. Anyway definitely recommend them from then, things could have changed now, who knows, but thought I’d share the view.

Oh my..used to love visiting my daughter and having "a grimsby".....sadly no more....staff are rude, miserable and avoid looking u in the eye for some reason - chips were hard, and my burger was wet, greasy and to be honest, tasteless. Not even a thank you. The one star is for its cleanliness, but won't be eating from there again.

First couple of orders, fish and chips fantastic. Couldn't fault it.
Last few times, including tonight, soggy batter on fish and battered sausage, not good at all. Chips were fine.

Tasty food and good value for money.
I liked that I could sit and eat on the premises. The other patrons were rude but that might be normal for Leicester
