From the moment we walked in store Terry's customer service exceeded our expectations, we explained our budget and he went through all the different types of carpets (hard wearing, deeper piles ect) and underlays answering all our questions and being very paitent. We all sat down and Terry constructed a plan devising it so we had as little waste as possible. To be sure we had the right colour he attended our home a few days later which is miles from the store in London Bridge and brought a range of huge samples so we could be 100% sure of our purchase.
We have now had our carpets fitted and what a quick efficient job it was. The whole upstairs, 3 bedrooms, hallway and staircase done and dusted in 4 1/2 hrs, my home was left clean and tidy and the engineers were respectful of my home the whole time.
In short I wouldn't go anywhere else after my experience, Terry was exceptional in his knowledge, demeanour and approach and the fitting was professional and quick, what more could you ask.
Then what i really found shady and rude of him was he didn't want to hand me the break down of his quote of what he charged me, he just gave me a massive figure and wrote that down with his name on a company headed paper. Every one else i have seen has given me a break down of my quote yet this lazy old man wanted to keep it, even though i asked for it, he said no i keep this, this has my calculations on it.
Well you know what if that's how they're going on in there they aren't getting my commission! I choose to go to another store or even another branch just so that old man doesn't get my commission! Treat me better and maybe you will!!! ... Prices are steep like Carpet right in there too! ... pffff ....
I decided to go in stores as I was not sure about what I wanted and desired a high quality carpet. I selected my carpet and was quoted, around £850, for a small bedroom, plus fitting cost £91, which I thought was reasonable at the time.
I was only able to review the receipt properly a few days later and noticed there was a separate charge £12 for Tapi arrange the fitter , which I could have done myself, as the fitter was £71 in total and had to pay an additional £30 more on the day as they needed to cut my door. I was not made aware of this, so complete money making scheme - no clear transparency on the additional costs which may be incurred on the day of fitting by Tapi.
Once the carpet was installed, I was told by my local carpenter, who is also a wholesaler, that they sell the exact same carpet for half the price!! I was shocked as I was told I was getting the best deal. I was told I was getting 50% off. Not true, just a marketing tactic on inflated prices.
On a separate note, I also order vinyl, for a separate room for £292, excluding fitting, with an extra £12.99 for fitting spray. I would recommend not to buy the spray as you can buy the same, online, for half the price. Also, with this purchase I was told the order would be delivered a month after purchase date, not in line with my expectations, as I was told 2-3 weeks initially. Therefore, luckily, I had to cancel the order, get a refund, and search for another provider.
The other online provider charged £182, so much less than Tapi, so their delay and refunding was a blessing in disguise.
I would not use them again, as the additional cost were not clearly explained.
