Carpetright

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We had carpet fitted from this store. The date of our prearranged fitting, I went in to labour. They still came and fitted, brilliant. However, they used our vacuum to clean up rather than bring one (which broke our vacuum in the process), but as we were in the hospital, we were not there to observe. 2 years later, we decided to lift some carpet because we had very squeaky floor boards. When we did this, we realised the fitter never installed the underlay or the grippers which we paid for. They simply reused what had been there. Talk about horrible business practice! We went back to the store the day after we discovered this, who then sent someone out to confirm our belief - which they did. Now, we have been emailing (yes, emailing - after requesting a PHONE call from a regional manager...no calls to date!) with the store manager who finally agreed to cover the cost of the proper underlay, but is charging us for install. Talk about shady, shady business practice!! AVOID at all cost!

We came today to have a quotation for flooring as we are planning to take our carpets out and swap to vinyl flooring. Service was good. We are excited to have new floors!

We've purchased the Hoxton carpet from Carpetright Guildford through Shahzad and had it fitted yesterday. Generally very happy with result and overall Carpetright experience. Shahzad the manager was very helpful and gave advice patiently, even though we changed our minds a few times about what we wanted!

Feel very let down by the GUILDFORD store regarding the fitting of our carpet. Seems to be the case that your inconvenience is not our problem! The Fitter said that we weren't booked in for the allocated fitting, although the Store deny this, either way someone is lying to us. The fitters didn't finally confirm that they weren't coming until 6:30pm (after I had chased a few times) and we were left to deal with an empty lounge and no confirmed time for refitting. Managed to get them to fit the next day after complaining to the store (fitters arrived later though than arranged) and it was all done very begrudgingly - they were also missing the ordered door bar which apparently was not at the depot. Not the sort of service I could recommend and really messed up the arrangements that we had made. The store has apologized, but apparently no compensation can be made for poor service by Carpetright, as it is not their policy! I have given 1 star, as the store answered the phone when I called, however, don't think I would have heard from them at all unless I had chased and would probably still be waiting in an emptied room...
