Awful! They are listed on google maps as closing at 17 and when I showed up at 16:30, after taking a long journey for the sole purpose of visiting the grounds, it turns out that it’s the office that closes at 17, the grounds close already at 16:30! Surely the google maps entry needs an update to avoid people wasting their time. Unhelpful guardian didn’t even offer much of an apology as if it wasn’t any of his business that the listing opening hours are wrong. Attached picture of the opening times, clearly not matching the listing.

My wife found the office staff to be rather tactless when looking for her grandparents and great aunts graves. Was told there may be no markings, and the gravestones may have fallen over with no feelings that we were talking about our loved ones, could have been talking about a tin of baked beans for all the care it was said with. As we have travelled around 120 miles to get there the main thing they spoke of with any passion was that we had parked in the wrong place. The ground staff were very helpful but we had to seek them out for ourselves. Some of the grave stones were in a shocking state. As many family's like ourselves are spread all over the country or maybe around the world, i would have thought that graves that do not get visited very often would be better looked after

My grandparents are laid to rest here and I always found the grounds staff to be really lovely. There is a groundsmen called Pete (excuse me if I'm wrong) he is really helpful. Sadly we have recently lost my dad Dene Gerard and Pete knew the names of my grandparents and where they are at rest from the top of his head. We wanted my father laid to rest near his parents my nan and grandad and he was so very helpful.
Although we found the office staff to be a little loud when dealing when such a sad situation.

Thank you so much all at East London for all your hard work and dedication

Beautiful well maintained cemetery. Very helpful staff. One groundsman took me round and showed me the graves of notable people buried here. Absolutely love the waterfall at the front gates. If you love walking around cemeteries looking at graves i definitely recommend this one.

Very poor customer service. They promise to return calls but do not.
I have made 5 calls and made an official complaint but they can't seem to respond to a simple request for information

I completely regret having my sibling buried in this cemetery. They put on a compassionate act in the beginning, it’s all a facade. There is no real professionalism and genuine customer service, they do not return calls, or emails and I do not understand why they manage the ordering of headstones (they do not allow external companies) when they do not put orders through. My sibling has been dead for a year and they still have not placed his headstone up. They waste your time by making you sign proofs and they never actually put the order in! After 1 year I had to do the same order paperwork all over again. If you can PLEASE AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Using this company will cause you more grief on top of losing your loved one. I do not know who is managing this organisation, but a definite restructuring is in order…total shambles and complete let down for a company that should uphold genuine compassion and concern for their clients, especially due to the nature of the business. Disappointing is an understatement.

The cemetery grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Lisa, who was there on behalf of the East London Crematorium and Cemetery to help us run our attended committal at the crematorium chapel this morning, was very discreet during our ceremony, but intervened in a sensitive manner whenever we needed help. We were grateful that she was there with us.

Lisa V Staff Member Amazing helpful. Brilliant service went the extra mile with helping with my search for my Grandmother's grave. I can't thank her enough for all her help.
