I can honestly say the food was brilliant. A fantastic selection of dishes and as a group we did have a good few so an honest reflection on variety and quality.
Lovely beer selection and the staff and service was brilliant.
Highly recommended if you're in the area as a great place to eat.
By the way the cassoulet was to die for 😍

My partner and I had planned on an afternoon at Stonehenge (25 minutes by car), followed by a relaxing stay at a celebrated little gastropub/hotel called the Peat Spade.

Driving into the village you are met by quintessential English rural history as quaint thatched roof house follows beautiful thatched roof house.

The hotel, also very quaint is a stones throw from the church, and has a small dedicated carpark to the rear.

Walking into the hotel, through the bar, you are met by the warmth of the greeting by Shelly, the manager, and her staff.

Our room was in the small outbuilding, beside the hotel... our room, upstairs, was cozy, rustic and charming... it was also clean and well appointed.... TV, kettle, iron, complimentary tea/coffee (filter, not instant), hot chocolate and cookies (my guilty pleasure). The bathroom was a little tired, but everything worked without fault.

My only minor complaint, was about the pillows being too soft for my liking.... but that's definitely a personal preference.

Dinner in the hotel was calm... a great wine/drinks menu, and excellent food (we opted for the baked camembert) and the Toulouse Cassoulet- both very excellent.... and all reasonably priced too.

Desserts had only two options.... we went for the fruit crumble and custard.... again, excellent. The menu could have benefitted from a cheeseboard option.... but again, not essential.

Our night was comfy and calm.... only woken by the sound of horseshoes on the road outside. Breakfast was excellent (1 smashed avocado, with poached egg, and one pancakes with bacon and maple syrup) and service was exceptional too.

Would be very happy to stay again... thank you, Shelly and staff, for a very relaxing stay.

Excellent food, wine, beer and service. This is a lovely gastro pub with very good gluten free options. Roast dinner on Sunday was superb.

Enjoyed everything. I was there with two mates all of us in our 70's and all with worldwide dining experiences. The three of us each come from roughly 50 miles from the Peat Spade. For our three monthly meetings we seek an exceptional lunch in pleasant surroundings. We all thought we'd found it.

Gorgeous village pub, owners are really friendly and food is always nice. We also stayed over for one night and the room was nice if a little chilly. Good with kids mostly, although we have struggled in the summer a couple of times with them booking our table in the sun by accident and then not having any room to move us, so if you’ve got a baby make sure you call a few times to triple check you’ve got some shade.

Food and beer very good. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Not keen on the added service charge. But apart from that. Well worth a visit.

Had a fantastic lunch at Peat Spade, this was our second time there and we were just as pleased as the first.

Quality of food and service both great, especially the blonde haired lady.

Highly recommend the fish pie !
