Ormskirk District General Hospital

I was recently on ward E on level 3 for an overnight stay due to an emergency. All of the nurses and doctors where amazing but one particularly made my experience a lot better. Jenny who is coming to the end of her apprenticeship/degree at edge hill went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. She eased my fears and held my hand during a scary time. This nurse is a credit to the ward and I think she should get a medal for her care and compassion. She took time out of her busy day to just talk and stay with me. Amazing lady! (Jenny thank you)

The hospital sent me back home with a burst stomach by saying drink more water and paracetamol after 5 hours wait suffering in pain. no scan, no check-ups. i didn't even see any doctor. she was a nurse. cost me an all inclusive 5 star holiday in another hospital after a major major surgery 😅

Amazing care, worth the 30 mile drive from Preston. I was worried about what the doctor was gonna ask me, but Dr Mulvey was absolutely amazing. He made sure that my irlen syndrome screening is fast tracked because of my Upcoming mock GCSEs

One thing that could be better is better directions for where to go to attend appointments as I had to show someone my letter and ask where it was

Also big positive was that they had Mr Tumble on the TV

my dad spent 5 hours waiting for an x-ray. meanwhile some people just walked straight in and were seen to right away. how’s that fair? he came straight from the walk-in-centre. also last time i went for a blood test i fainted and the nurse didn’t care. she just sent me on my way with no check up or anything. thank god i was getting picked up because i fainted again in the car. imagine if i’d been taking the bus. who knows what could’ve happened

Attended to very promptly. Outpatients department was very clean and tidy. All staff were very professional and efficient. Good hospital experience.

Daughter was brought here by paramedics stating it was the closest hospital, even though it wasn’t. Explained that her consultant was at another hospital, same distance away, but was told that they would not be going there by extremely rude paramedics. That was the first issue. Unrelated to the hospital but it was the start of an awful experience. The hospital itself is absolutely filthy, I have never seen anything like it. Everywhere is in desperate need of cleaning, and the smell is disgusting. My daughter has epilepsy and when in hospital she needs to be monitored (heart rate, blood pressure etc) none of this happened overnight. No observations done during the night. Absolute disgrace. Given the impression that no one was bothered, they didn’t listen, no questions asked about background and when we tried to explain her condition we were just ignored. Awful hospital.

I am a pain clinic patient & I cannot thank the staff enough for their treatment over the last 7yrs or so. Professional, caring, patient, funny, understanding & the clinic runs at top notch trying to catch up on clinics that get cancelled.

So my 5* review is for all of the pain team including receptionists at Ormskirk Hospital.

John was in F ward as a day case 8/2/23 and we are so grateful for the wonderful care afforded him by all the staff on the ward. Their skill, pleasantness and support were very much appreciated by both of us.
