Lovely Heritage line, 40 minute journey. Excellent station exhibitions and info. Restaurant car at Dufftown has set times for lunch otherwise it's tea and cake but still good.

Excellent volunteer-run heritage railway bringing history to life. Surprises included the museum of railway artefacts at Dufftown, and a vast collection of railway books at Keith. Even if the trains don't interest you, the cafe at Dufftown is first class, with a good range of home baking.

Fantastic old railway, dog friendly and all the volunteers were lovely.
We parked at Dufftown end, plenty of parking. From the ticket office we bought a return ticket ,£14 each. Dogs were free. We were there at a quieter time and we had the carriage all to ourselves as we decided to go in the rear facing one. The guard was very friendly and entertaining during the 40min. journey to Keith. 20mins at Keith was enough time to visit the shop and buy some souvenirs before getting the next train back.
The cafe at Dufftown for lunch after the morning train ride was perfect, food was very good and the staff was also friendly.

Great experience for Halloween. My boys were terrified. Well done all those involved.

This place is a real gem, came down here to take some photos. One of the volunteers showed me around and allowed me great access to some of the unusual exhibits. Whilst I was there a family was enjoying driving one of the trains. For a small fee £10 I think you can actually have a go at driving a train. A few times a day at the weekend the train runs from dufftown to Keith and back, a really scenic journey with lots to see. Then on the platform is a lovely tea room in a railway carriage. This is a delightful place and fun for the whole family, there's so much to do in the area but you mustn't miss the dufftown railway.

Lovely little cafe with great service and a real old fashioned feel.
Good simple food and amazing cakes.
No vegan but a lot of vegetarian options.
Railway not running due to Covid but everything looked immaculate

Good railway. Went a couple of weeks ago. Runs mainly DMUs. When you get to Dufftown you can have a taster at driving a shunter(for £10). Also a small cafe at Dufftown station but you do need to book in advance. All in all a good little day out
