A very historic landmark in Southampton, the West Gate was the main gate for leaving and entering Southampton by sea. Henry V and his troops left by the gate in 1415 on their way to the battle of Agincourt. Also leaving from here were the Pilgrim Fathers embarked from West Quay on "the Mayflower" on August 15th, 1620. The last major use of the gate was the leaving of troops on their journey from Southampton to the beaches of Normandy and the D-Day landings. When you walk through the gateway tower's tunnel you walk through hundreds of years of British history.

I was here to photograph a wedding whilst there was Covid-19 restrictions in place. The staff were not only incredibly friendly, and reassuring, but they also had perfect procedures in places to keep everybody safe. The room was beautiful, and the ceremony ran perfectly. I am so impressed with all of the staff here.

A lovely building which caters for weddings.
Not sure what else they allow here, best contact them.
Very clean inside and out. Long ramp with a few small steps leading up.
A nice timw was had by all, a very good place and very historic.

This is one of the most beautiful wedding venue's I have ever seen and we have now had the privilege of getting married here. It is stunning. The venue is 'ready made' for weddings with no effort on our part, it is decorated so beautifully. They accommodated our request to Webcam via Facebook the whole event as we had family in New Zealand and Australia and also to provide our own music which we blue toothed to a speaker from Spotify. Bev was our Registrar and she was perfect. We would highly recommend this venue, offered by the Registry office as part of their list of venue's.

So you go in, and up the stairs into this delightful attic room that sits 70ish people. An alcove down the side is perfect for a small choir of 8-10ish people, and the acoustics are nice. Silk flowers and silk greenery make this place a lovely inimate venue for weddings. It is hard to find mind you - it's round the back of the Pig in the Wall pub - and far easier to drop folk off and park either in the road by St Michael's church, or at Eastgate Street multistoret car park. That said, Westgate shopping centre is only a ten minute walk away past coffee and eating places, and perfect for those people who have found their suit trousers are not quite in the packing....
