A pudding Stone is a geological formation when new rock of form around existing stones and rock. It looks like concrete but is a natural formation. They were once believed to ward off witchcraft and we therefore used in the construction of buildings.
This is a pretty big pudding stone and visible near the road.

Hertfordshire pudding is unique. Yes it is a conglomerate but what makes it unique is that the matrix is stronger than the pebbles meaning that cracks go through the pebbles instead of around

Pretty much Mt Everest in the eyes of many toddlers growing up, including myself.
Happily, I've made the summit on a number of occasions. Once you make the perilous climb, you can enjoy spectacular views of the lake of Verulamium glittering in the distance.
