Amazing gem hidden in the Richmond golf course for many years. Limited visiting and not suitable for dodgy knees.

A fascinating history of an elegant building. Well worth a visit while you still can.

What a wonderful surprise, hidden away from the public gaze. This is a great building with so much fascinating history. Our guide was really good, and brought the place alive with his enthusiasm. So glad I went.

About six months before we visited, my wife and I walked down the River Thames path and spotted the house in line with the first obelisk. We booked our tickets in advance, and the lady who was the tour guide was excellent. Her knowledge was remarkable, and we got a superb history lesson about the house and George III. One bonus was we were on the tour with a man with his daughter who had owned the original silk roll of the Chinese drawings reproduced on the walls in one of the rooms. The last treat was seeing the cupola with the telescope and seeing how it all worked. Many thanks to our excellent tour guide; she was brilliant, and the house tour was so enjoyable. Very highly recommended, and thank you to the present owners who allow these tours to happen.

Fascinating historical house built by King George III to observe the transit of Venus across the sun.

This place is one of the secret places I love to discover and I'm so glad that I got the chance to visit. The observatory it sits in its own grounds but within a golf course.
The tour has started with the history of the place, and then we moved from room to room, learning about the objects in each one.
My favourite room of the house it was the dining room with a bespoke wallpaper.
If the avaibility turns up to go and visit the place will definitely recommend it.
As is a private residence is only open couple of times a year, so I'm was so glad I got a ticket for it.
