Love this place 🙌💒🔮💕

A Norman Church, extensively remodelled in the 14th century. It stands inside a late Neolithic Henge monument constructed c2,500 BC. People have prayed and worshipped here for thousands of years and you can feel that in the stones and in the air. 🙏❤️

Fascinating little place to visit. It’s a Neolithic ritual henge earthworks with a 12th century church in the middle. The church is a ruin but has undergone rendering work to keep what remains in good order. Look carefully and see graffiti from the Second World War left by visiting U.S servicemen. Got a nice feel to this simple, uncomplicated place that’s absolutely oozing history.

Haven't visited for 25 years. Still full of charm, lots of butterflies. Lovely early morning walk.

Enigmatic, fascinating and spiritual archaeological site. Shame that rogue metal detectorists have attacked it to loot our heritage.

Peaceful spot for a picnic. Worth a visit if you're interested in old ecclesiastical buildings or ancient history. Or just sitting in the middle of a yew tree and tying ribbons on 🧐

A historically fascinating site where Christianity meets paganism during a change of religion in England. The earthworks make a pleasant setting with the church ruins in the centre. There is also a wishing tree with loads of wishes & memories. Depending on when you visit, the site can feel jolly and lively, or solemn and spiritual.

Great place for a wander. It's not a big site but it's very atmospheric. I did quick trip there with my three year old who enjoyed looking at the ruin, running on the earthworks and checking out the yew tree ribbons.
It's not an all day outing, or somewhere with spectacular offerings for a family outing, but rather for a nice short stroll with stunning scenery and a dose of history which you can use to break up your day with a drop in visit.
