This memorial at Southampton was built in memory of engineers who built Titanic. Very close to train station. Walkable distance from train station and also close to sea city museum

A calm spot for remembering the tragic voyage. E except the memorial there is nothing special around the area.

"TITANIC - QUEEN MARY 2"..

TITANIC 2 is actually being constructed in China, should be launched in the year 2022, with the TITANIC 2 film sequal parody being screened during 2021..

Not far from the Queen Mary 2 Terminal this iconic memorial stands in tribute to those who perished..

Titanic was nearly one hundred metres shorter than Queen Mary 2, dwarfed in height by the multi decks of modern cruise liner technology, Queen Mary 2 being 2x the height of RMS Titanic..

Queen Mary 2 has been anchored in Lyme Bay off of Babbacombe, Torbay, Devon, U.K. for many months..

One can take a virtual tour of Titanic, short + long versions on U Tube (c), Google Earth (c)..

The stiff upper elegant interior of Titanic vanished to the deep icy sea bed on April 14th, the sea temperature colder than normal, the speed of Titanic sending the sea temperature to freezing, over 100 years ago..

1,500 passengers + crew perished, sinking with Titanic to those icy depths, until discovered in 1985..

No bodies have ever been recovered, the mineral salts of sea water dissolve human flesh/bone quiet quickly..

How ever, eerily there are boots + shoes of passengers, some still in the cabins where they could not escape..

When the Battleship Bismark was explored on the seabed submersibles also found hundreds of leather boots..

The last body to be retrieved from the sea, five days after the Titanic, sank was that of a two year boy..

Many other personal items have been recovered from Titanic, a time capsule of itinerary over 100 years old, all these historical items being in + around the Titanic, sitting seven miles deep on the muddy sea bed..

Bulk Heads not high enough, Brittle Iron Rivets in the Bow Section, Rudder too Small, Loss of directive propulsion power to Rudder when Propellers were Reversed, Coal Bunker Fire which Burnt for Days causing a Bulk Head to become Damaged, Telescopes not provided to Look Outs to see distant Ice Berg's..

All contributed to the unforseen loss of the unsinkable "TITANIC"..

Even Isambard Brunel nearly lost his own iconic ship, SS Great Britain, after it ran aground on Irish shores, stuck fast for a year, the crew missing on this journey, a new light house, thinking it was an old light house, though noting the time travelled on this night, it is difficult to understand how such a navigational error occurred..

Many of the wealthier passengers on Titanic were travelling under false names, to protect their wealth..

The estimated wealth of the 1st Class Passengers, some with very famous names, was £120 million..

Many of the wealthy survivors lost their wealth, paid only a pittance in compensation years after the accident..

If you have ever been cold enough to shiver uncontrollably then you can only imagine how cold they, the passengers/crew were..

Plunged from warmth into an icy sea, traumatic, not instant but taking approximately three long hours to succombe to the cold icy sea..

Even today with all of modern human technology ships still sink, lost in accidents or just to the power of seas..

"TITANIC - QUEEN MARY 2"..

One can only imagine the excited gasps of the Titanic Engineer's had they seen Queen Mary 2 today..

"TITANIC REST IN PEACE"..

A fitting memorial to men from Southampton, Engineers working in the boiler rooms and elsewhere on the Titanic, who were lost in the disaster on the liner's maiden voyage in 1912. A tragedy which affected many families and households across Southampton.
