Frankly one of the ugliest monuments in Britain! Its steps, and the benches around it, have also been colonized by tourists and other unsavoury types. Avoid!

Certainly was outstanding and the pigeons contribute to it. The beauty is due to the complementary nature of the stone and the surrounding area.
I have often use this as a meeting place and I have never missed a friend because of it, nor have I ever been late if this has been my destination.
Great!

Beautiful Memorial, inscription: To the Glory of God, and in grateful commemoration of His servants, Thomas Cranmer, Nicholas Ridley, Hugh Latimer, Prelates of the Church of England, who near this spot yielded their bodies to be burned, bearing witness to the sacred truths which they had affirmed and maintained against the errors of the Church of Rome, and rejoicing that to them it was given not only to believe in Christ, but also to suffer for His sake; this monument was erected by public subscription in the year of our Lord God, MDCCCXLI.

This is an incredible piece of history, sitting right in the middle of a modern-day high-traffic intersection. I highly recommend you check it out. The steps leading right up to the monument are great to sit and have lunch on (I have myself several times). The whole thing was "refurbished" in 2002 (I think), so all the carvings and such are very clear.

Magnificent monument in centre of Oxford, that has all the University college buildings on one side and the imposing Randolph Hotel and shopping
Quarter on the other.

A great memorial to Crammer Latimer and Ridley designed by George Gilbert Scott (yes that man again how did he find the time) of whom I am a great fan .Latimer Bishop of Worcester , Ridley Bishop of London and Cranmer Archbishop of Canterbury all burnt at the stake during the Marian Persecutions
