An understated and uncluttered tribute.
Unveiled in 2017 in the form of a simple obelisk resting against a a pyramid shaped plinth.** located against a large brick wall under the faded “Bovril” ghost sign commemorating the Afro-Caribbean contribution to the Allied Armed Forces in both World Wars.
** the triangular motif is repeated in the canopy and base of the “Cherry Groce” memorial pavilion nearby.

Said to be the first memorial dedicated sole to African and Caribbean soldiers who fought in the both World Wars. Its amazing their contribution has been overlooked for so long. Not far from busy Brixton Station, its worth a visit. Inscription below:
