By National Trust standards this is a small property. Open only on a Sunday but what a great place.
House has a good story and history.
Gardens were nice to walk around.
Cakes are home made by descendants of the original owner.
Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Well worth a visit.

Good place for a short trip out for an hour or so. Or you could take a picnic and stay longer to enjoy the simple meadow-like gardens. Fascinating insight into the cultural and political aspects of the Victorian era through the eyes of an under-appreciated architect. All the more interesting because the property is still his descendants' family home.

Lovely family home atmosphere, because the family really still live there. Garden with picnic space including trees to give shade. The front gate is a bit narrow, especially if you approach from the east but there is a parking field straight ahead once you get in. I think next time I might go up the lane opposite, find somewhere to turn round then have a straight approach to the gate. The guides were all knowledgeable and there is a small self service tea room. If the musical box is not playing, ask them to demonstrate it. It is lovely!

Some interesting history but inside can be seen in 30mins - Only 4 rooms can be visited as a family still lives here.

Best bit is the self service garden tea room with honesty box. Lovely selection of freshly baked goods and loose leaf tea.

Garden is nice with tree swings for kids, the farm area with growing fruit and veg is roped off though

Great place for U3A and other interested groups to arrange a private visit. Fantastic home made cakes and tea included!
Please support this important local historical and lovely place to ensure that it remains open to the public.

Beautiful home with a peaceful garden. Tea and cake facilities, cash required as it is help yourself.

One of the smaller NT properties with limited parking and facilities. Interesting visit only taking about an hour. Only opens at limited times so it's essential to check the NT website before setting out.
