First impressions where great when booking via email and over the telephone Jo was friendly and efficient all done within 10 minuets with conformation email in my hand. On arrival we located our pitch and set up.

We first noted the lack of a one way system on to the main area along with 3 very nasty blind bends TAKE CARE. The site its self is well maintained and the walk around the private fishing lake is very nice.

unfortunately during a stop at reception to obtain local guides etc I was totally ignored by the 2 staff members chatting behind the counter and was only noticed when I asked if it was ok to take a map.

The facilities where acceptable for a busy site with plenty of the basic requirements.

On departure due to the blind narrow bend at the last exit gate we clipped the large chalk rocks on the grass on the off side and damaged the corner of the caravan, maybe they need to be moved in and secured to prevent them from wandering too closely to the edge of the grass .

Excellent site, can not thank the staff enough for all they have done for my parents during a week of disasters for them. They are warm and welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. The site itself is set in beautiful surroundings with a short walk to a lovely lake. Toilet and shower facilitys spotlessly clean.
Once again thankyou for all being stars.

What a delightful gem, we are staying here for 13 nights.
Friendly team, the cleanest campsite I have ever stayed on, even the shower curtains are changed everyday.
It’s a real pleasure to stay here.
Waking up to the wonderful view of the orchard and watching the farm life . Lovely and quiet here too. Will be staying here again for sure !

We have been using HWF for approximately 40 years: earliest retained receipt found, dated 06/08/1990, (pitch 63). Well before the two North/South ‘satellite’ toilet facilities were built.
And for some time there used to be a convenient shop on the corner of Popular Lane – no such equivalent is available.

Why The Low Review Mark

The busiest time, in my experience, for toilet use is from 08:30 to 10:30 am. So why are the toilets being cleaned in this period, hence not available for use?

There is no late night warden to stop the late night noise of children and adults.

The reception area was not always open during the normal working hours.

Most UK Touring sites have gradually increased the content and quality of the on-site toilet and general facilities. HWF has, for men four toilet cubicles and three showers and for women 8 toilet cubicles and three showers. This is to ‘accommodate’ a SITE FULL scenario some 64 caravan pitches and 20 tent pitches. Hence when full a minimum of 200 individuals. Not adequate.

The site has increased its prices in-line or above other touring parks, yet there have been no recent improvements in facilities. Hence HWF, despite its good features, is no longer value for money – far from it.

Being members of the C&MC and C&CC we will in future, most likely, take our custom elsewhere.

Owner's response covers cleaning issue only and avoids, hence does not dispute other comments.

We have stayed here quite a few times over the years and it has always been a pleasure. The surroundings with walks and fishing lake etc are well kept and the facilities consistent.

Great place to stay, very clean and big open grass areas for kids to play. Fair size fishing lake a small walk from site about 3rd of mile, stocked with Roach, Rudd and good size Perch (only fish caught so far) yet to catch any carp but am assured they are there too. Nice pub a short walk from site along with a nice woodland walk.
