Villa Mar Riding School

I have been riding at Villa Mar for nearly two years and I love it! Sarah has the patience and expertise to teach children and adults. I have had the opportunity to ride retired household cavalry horses... how many people can say that! They all have their individual characters and different styles of riding, therefore I have learnt how to ride well and with confidence. Sarah has always encouraged me and gave me the confidence to jump. I would recommend Villa Mar to everyone.

I have to say I am shocked and baffled by the last review. From my experience at Villa Mar Riding School, the comments could not be further from the truth. Sarah, Fred, Maureen and Dave are some of the nicest, friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. My little nephew has weekly riding lessons with Sarah and she is fabulous with him and everyone else in his lesson. Due to Sarah's experience, skill, patience and making every lesson fun, his riding has improved so much in a relatively short space of time. You only have to visit this lovely family run yard to know it is most definitely not about the money but about the well being of the horses and all the other animals Sarah and crew work tirelessly to keep healthy and happy. We love spending time at Villa Mar, we are always made to feel so welcome and I cannot recommend it enough.

Villa Mar has been a great place to learn to ride. As an adult, I was nervous about trying something I hadn’t done since I was about seven but Sarah put me at ease straight away. I have learnt all of the basics as well as learning to jump too. I have been able to ride lots of different horses and so have been able to learn to adapt my skills. Sarah cares for everyone she teaches as well as all of her horses. They are never without anything they need. The vet is called immediately if any of the horses even just seem off colour. Lots of children get the opportunity to care for the horses too.

As an older, overwhelmed and under confident rider, I am incredibly grateful to Sarah and her team for giving me the confidence to ride again. After only 5 one to one lessons with lots of care and a fantastic steady horse I now ride without support just Sarah’s instruction. The stables have many rescue and ex military horses who wouldn’t have had a home and I dread to think where they would be without this school. My daughter also attends within a class at the school and not only does she love the riding she enjoys learning about what comes with having a horse and is able to groom and get involved to her hearts content. The family are lovely, as are the horses. We love it. It’s a sociable place with lots of friendly parents and riders!

Such a wonderful and loving place to be I used to go here as a teenager I loved every minute of being there. I had low confidence in not only learning to ride horses but with myself, I received alot off support 💯 . Now I am a adult it's been over 10 years since being at villa mar I am definitely going to revisit them. Thank you Sarah and too you're mum 😊 ❤️

Had my first horse riding lesson today after approximately 3years off. I was apprehensive at first when I first arrived as it being my first time there but very quickly that changed I was welcomed with open arms as if I was already family. Sarah was fantastic and gave me a horse that suited me really well and the teaching was 5stars!! Had to have quite a few breaks 😂 Sarah was kind, compassionate, caring, understanding and patient with me. I'm coming back next week for another lesson and hopefully many more lessons to come!! Really nice people and would definitely recommend here for riding lessons if anyone is looking. Thank you for a positive experience. If you're a bit of a nervous rider like me this is the place for you to build you confidence. Thank you 😊.

My daughter who has aspergers absolutely adores this riding school. It is a kind and safe space for her where she has readily made friends with the owners and others there who are passionate about horses. For us this unassuming family run school offers things money just can't buy. I would recommend it to anyone.
