I was one of the first people who moved in there when it opened in 2017 and unfortunately it was still in the trial and error stage so a lot of things were going on that made benefiting from the service very unlikely. The inexperienced staff although wonderful people just didn't have the experience to deal with people who have been dealing with long term addiction weather it be drugs or and alcohol as well as homelessness. I felt they thought that treatment for addiction was the same as other illnesses were it worked for one so it will work for the other. That's not the case unfortunately each addict will have similar caricaturists and defaults of character but there reasons they cannot live life on life's terms without using what ever it is there using as a crutch. Also there were 3 dealers living there which made abstinence much harder than it needed to be. You wouldn't take a alcoholic who wants to get sober and move them in to a pub. So asking a drug user to live with dealers is just the same. If you keep setting vulnerable people up to fail they will soon stop trying and may be lost forever. Addition can only lead to one of three places, 1 is Jail, 2 is a mental hospital and 3 is a grave unless you manage to dig deep inside and change the way you think and treat yourself there can be no recovery without uncovering your defaults and learning new strategy's for dealing with your triggers. Anyway I know that place can and will save lives. It will also be some peoples last attempt at sobriety before they check out of this life. Sad but 100% True.
