Some very nice and kind staff and the rooms were good for a hostel. Decently priced and served the purpose very well. Only issue is with it sitting on the top of a valley, it is quite tucked away from everything else, so requires either a car or a good amount of commuting time to navigate there from the main roads.

My wife and I stayed at YHA Truleigh Hill during our hike along the South Downs Way. It was the perfect stop right along our path. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was surprisingly good; not that we thought it would be bad, we just had no idea what hostel food would be like!

Be sure to start your day in the common room, you can see right through the trees to the sea, it's great!

Our only tip would be to do laundry early; they have a washer but not a dryer, so if you are only staying overnight you may want all the hours you have to dry your clothes.

Contrary to the unfavourable reviews I read, I thought it was a very decent place to stay. The most important thing to us was that the beds and sheets were fresh and clean. The individual I brought along had never stayed in YHA housing before, and I'm delighted they had a good experience. Fresh, pure water was in plentiful supply, which was crucial during the scorching summer we have been having. The building from the outside looks a little scuffy and in need of updating. I hope they receive the funding and investment they merit. Without a doubt, I would recommend it, and I wouldn't think twice about returning. You must be aware of the venue's location, for those looking for night life. For walkers and explorers, it is perfect. The hostel is located on a narrow, winding road some distance from the closest town.

We have had 2stays here. One in safari tent and one in land pod. We really enjoy it here. We will be back. We only live locally so its ideal for a one nite break for us but I'd imagine you could spend a lovely few days up here. I've not tried the hostel rooms because we prefer the outside but the building is lovely and the self catering kitchen has everything you need.

Had a private room the night which was fine if a little noisy as you can here every door slam throughout the building. Sink in the room is a nice touch.

The main problem and reason for low score is the food. We had dinner which took an age to come and was miniscule. Breakfast the following morning was a shambles, everything was undercooked and inedible with the continental buffet constantly running out. The staff were doing their best but it left us feeling ripped off and wishing we'd planned alternative eating arrangements.

Clean rooms, and bathrooms were also very clean. Had no problem getting to use the showe or toilets, there are plenty there. Our beds were comfy. Location were stunning. U would need a car, or else u will need to book a taxi…would recommend doing this with plenty of notice though.. the breakfast was great value, and very tasty. It was also piping hot. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a great stay

Beautiful location off road, hard working and friendly staff, very good fresh cooked breakfast, comfortable and relaxing communal spaces and super-clean rooms. We had a great stay.

Stopped in for a quick coffee/whisky in the middle of a rainy, windy hike. Very warm, cosy, comfy and clean cafe and lounge area, and nice toilets. Service was stellar and the woman serving us was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, answering all our questions about YHA and clearly very passionate about her job and the YHA mission/purpose. Will definitely look out for YHA's when next booking a trip! Thanks for getting us dry and warm with both your drinks and your company :-)
