You get what you pay for. It's cheap, but fine for the price. There are fun-looking pod rooms as well as more standard beds/bunks. Some showers were broken, but the wait for them never got long. Stayed there as part of a large football squad, and the owners were accommodating of our team talks and post-tournament pizza party in the common room.

Lovely staff, really accomodating (I spoke to one on the phone, one in the evening and two in the morning). The staff were also very friendly and up for a chat, they treated me, and other guests like individuals, rather than just any old customers.

I was in a six bed pod room, it was awesome! Colourful and comfortable too. Each bed had a lamp and charging sockets.

Only thing is, there wasn't much storage at all - luckily I only had a backpack and a shoulder bag.

Showers were warm and powerful, free tea, coffee and hot chocolate were provided free of charge - including herbal and fruit teas.

Good cheap hostel, about 30-40 minutes walk from the city centre. It's a self-catering hostel (with a good kitchen), so for breakfast only tea or coffee are available. The common room at the entrance is nice, bathrooms, bed sheets and rooms looked clean, I didn't notice any safety or security concerns at all. Pod beds are unusual but comfortable, and there are neither wardrobes nor lockers in the rooms (at least in the one in which I stayed). The neighborhood isn't so full of attractions, but there are several take-away restaurants, supermarkets and corner shops

Lovely Hostel! Don't listen to the idiotic reviews - it's a very cheap, comfortable hostel with hugely welcoming and helpful staff. They told us all about local sights, gave us directions, and simply had some lovely conversation. The beds were great, i've never slept in this style of pod bed before - I'm a tall guy and had more than enough space! Lots of plugs, free wifi, washing and drying machines, huge kitchen, living room...what else do you need? I've seen people moaning it's too far away from the city centre...Get a grip guys!! It's a 40 minute walk at most, or a £1 bus if you're too lazy for that ;) Go 007 !!! :D

The people who run this place are actually pretty nice, and I feel bad for having to be so honest, but...

~~This isn't really a backpacker hostel.~~

There are several older men who seem to live there full time. There are a bunch of storage containers in the kitchen labeled with their names on them.
Also, this place was a complete and utter nightmare inside. They claim they're renovating, and that may be true, though I didn't see any ongoing construction. The front room is pretty okay, except that they have shower curtains hung over the main windows for privacy. The rest of the hostel, including all of the dorms, is very very run down and looks super scary. I'll post pictures to demonstrate. My male friends were questioning staying there. The boys' bathrooms are apparently awful and the guys decided not to shower, even though we were there two nights. The girls' bathroom is okay, but the shower floods so quickly that you have to leave the shower off while you soap up. The lock on the door to the shower I used also didn't work.
The 10 person dorm we stayed in had an extremely questionable smell that made you not want to breathe in there. My bed pod had a candy bar wrapper and used tissues from another guest in it. The bedroom window was broken and would only close temporarily, which was tough on the two winter nights we stayed there. The pod style bed system was kind of cool, so there is that... No lights or charging port in them, though. I'm pretty sure there were not enough charging ports for everyone in the bedroom. Also, the oven in the kitchen was out of order.
Last thing, the location sucks. You can get a bus into town from close by, so it's not that bad, but walking to/from the city centre is a huge time suck and I wouldn't recommend it. Get a day pass for the bus for five pounds... if you stay here. I really wouldn't if you have another option.

This place is better than it seems! Lovely staff, and a really nice pod bed, which had its own light and charging port. Hot shower was great and everything was clean. Nice and private, felt safe, and there is a bus stop right outside. Would recommend if youre visiting for a night out.

The beds were super comfy and the pods are amazing, they give you proper privacy and don't have to worry about disturbing anyone as you have your own light and plug sockets. Staff were really friendly as well.
It looks far away from the centre but really only a short 20 minute walk or a quick bus journey. Although it is just around the corner from North Street, so going into town isn't really that important as you could easily spend a week just exploring this part of the city.
Would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone coming to Bristol.

After 1 night stay, I was locked out for the second night I was supposed to be there. No one gave me any mention of a curfew. I checked my booking details, the website... Nothing mentions that I was supposed to be there at a certain time after dark. Bristol is a pretty hip city, I feel that at 0:20 I should be able to get into my hostel after touring some pubs.

What a disaster. It's inhumane to leave someone without shelter.
