Winchester Royal Hotel

Great welcome from amazing staff. Comfortable room for a good night's sleep. Beautiful garden to have a drink. A great self service breakfast with staff to look after you and step out the door and you are in the main street in 2 minutes. Would visit again

overpriced room in the annex was drab and totally without character. self service breakfast was lukewarm with rubbery eggs Bar manager , a short bald guy very unfriendly. This hotel is nothing special although it looks great from the outside. i was not told I could not stay in the main building although this was promised when I booked. I ended up in the garden annex overlooking the car park. This hotel scores a maximum of 5 out of 10. Definitely not worth the price. I have stayed in better travel lodge rooms. Generally a total rip off

Nice clean quiet room, lovely setting right in middle of the city, yet peacefully quiet. Food served was excellent, service sometimes a little slow. Overall a lovely place.

Wonderful location but that’s about it. Booked a room with a garden view but was put in one overlooking a car park. I was moved when I complained. Decor dated and in need of refurbishment. No vanity mirror or cosmetic lighting in bathroom. No drawers in room. The bar closed at 10.40pm. Breakfast was ok but no hash browns and I had to ask twice for butter. Overpriced.

A really lovely hotel just a few minutes walk from the high street, cathedral and other places of interest. Staff very helpful and efficient. Food in the restaurant was great. Would definitely return

Went for a wedding and spent a couple of nights in suites 118 & 115. The hotel is very clean and I surprisingly found no faults with the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I had the most amazing sleep. The staff was friendly, efficient, and resourceful. The food was delicious. The garden is beautiful and the hotel itself has lovely charm. If I'm back in Winchester again this would be my first consideration. I highly recommend this hotel.

The staff we encountered were all extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel could not have been in a better location to quickly get to the city centre. We had dinner in the hotel on our second night which was delicious too.

However, the room clearly hadn’t had a deep clean for a while- lots of cobwebs and layers of dust on the lampshades, mildew on the net curtains, flaky paint in areas and it just felt like it needed looking after. The hotel was comfortable but did need updating in areas.

Two night stay here to visit Christmas Market Town and Cathedral. Nice staff, breakfast buffet good, room large and comfortable also quiet even though downstairs by car park. Would stay here again. No services utilised so cannot comment
