Red Lion Hotel Portsmouth

The staff were really nice.
But it's next to a busy road, and the venue seems incredibly run down.
Food took quite a while (but we were warned of this before ordering). Didn't seem very busy though for the wait.
Hopefully they can make something of it in time.

Well catered to foreign guests. Showed up and asked for the All Blacks game against the Wallabies and they put it on straight away. Friendly staff and local patrons are very accommodating. Well recommended, and will be back.

Ordered food from here twice.
First time (few weeks/month ago) had multiple missing items and second time (last night) they sent us a meat pizza when we had ordered the veggie one.
Also had two stray sultanas/raisins in my salad (not in the item description).

Glad I’m not allergic to them but definitely was an unpleasant surprise and along with the ‘vegetarian’ pizza being covered in turkey, I’m not going to be giving them a third chance.

Won’t be getting food from here again and definitely don’t recommend it.

If you do order, check your food thoroughly incase of cross contamination.

A well kept clean hotel and bar. Room was comfortable, friendly staff and lovely food would definitely visit again.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. The room was clean and warm, which was lovely as so cold outside. The breakfast was tasty and cooked well, and the staff coped really well due to an awkward customer being extremely rude to the waitress, even though she was so polite to him. Will definitely come back, an amazing stay

My review is about the food, not the rooms! I can't stress enough that the staff are lovely and had absolutely no issues with the way they delivered the service. The food however was very disappointing and also the waiting time, a hours wait for a medium done steak! And when it arrived the steak was so tough it was like a brick! The only thing nice was the chips! I could of raised this with the staff but honestly, I was so tired by the time I got it I just wanted to eat whatever I could and get home. Its a shame that the waiting time of the food and the food quality had ruined the evening. However staff was lovely!

Food is of good quality, decent size portions, cooked to how you like it.
Dietary requirements are also catered for, Staff are always friendly and you're met with a smile. The new refurbishment brings a modern and open feel to the place. The Manager Micheal always greets with a smile and makes you feel at ease, he makes time to talk to the customers, he definitely has a larger than life personality which i find a positive experience, which makes the whole dining experience that much more enjoyable., even at busy times. Rob is also really polite and constantly non stop when ever I see him, same with all the FOH staff. Have not had the pleasure of meeting any of the BOH Kitchen Staff, because as a rule they stay in the kitchen.
I can not comment on the hotel as I have never stayed in it.

Great service. Great food. We had lunch which was very good. Car park is free for diners.
