Pop up with the family for Sunday roasts when I’m home. Food it great staff are nice. Disappointing to see these photos in reviews of your kitchen looking a bit dirty. I would like reassurance that it’s been cleaned up now. Anyway my review is based on my experience so still a 5.

A really interesting old pub/hotel in a central location. The dinner was pretty good, nothing amazing and the choices were quite limited when we stayed. The evening bar staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast wasn’t so good, it was ok, the staff seemed rushed and forgot an item that was ordered.
The room was great, clean and comfortable and they provided a fan which was a nice touch given how hot it has been.

I have been charged £156 for one night, when I looked on booking. com it should be £60...I challenged them over the price but got nowhere. The room was absolutely disgusting, tiny, carpet dirty, I started to itch, dirty curtains at the old windows, view of dirty back yard....Ended up sleeping in my car for the night with my dogs. Breakfast was awful, cheap dishwater coffee. Absolutely disgusting...Money down the drain...Anyone that has anything good to say about this dump must not be fussy, and they could not care less when you complain...Would most definitely not recommend.

Well Below Par.

Booked a standard room, which proved to be unbearably small and pretty grubby round the edges. Smallest double bed I’ve ever seen, and you can barely turn around in the Camper Van style shower.

We were staying for a wedding and couldn’t both get ready at the same time as no space to move.

Even double checked with the staff that we hadn’t accidentally been given one of their ‚small doubles‘, but alas Room 8 is apparently a ‚Standard‘.

Breakfast tasty but inflexible - you have to book your 15minute slot upon arrival, many slots booked out but dining room then only 25% full when you arrive? Allow plenty of time to get your cooked breakfast.

Would have discussed these points at checkout, but sadly no staff on reception.

Pretty frustrating for the £200+ we paid. Rest of the wedding party paid less at a Premier Inn up the road and had a great time…

Charming little old place. The fire was burning which always helps the make a bar feel welcoming. We were greeted with smiles, drink orders were taken immediately and we were shown to out table.
The food was amazing, proper pies are served there and not a beef stew in a tin with a pastry lid. Everything we had was perfectly prepared and presented and tasted amazing.
Definitely worth a visit if you've never been.

Lovely bed and brekafast with really friendly staff. The rooms are clean and modern. There is a lovely wood fire in the bar area. The breakfast was really nice and there was plenty of choice with full English to classic breakfast items with continental breakfast too. I would definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

The clubs Christmas meal 10 Dec 2022
In essence:
• The function room was perfect for our attendees and partners which numbered about 50.
• All 3 courses of the food were very good (I didn't hear anything other than praise from anyone)
• The service was good (when we asked for more gravy, veg etc it came swiftly)
• Last but not least, the real ale was very good (my personal priority).
A big thank you to the staff, I hope you all have a merry Christmas and I hope we meet up at the Thatch again next Christmas.

This epitomises the traditional inn. Several rooms, nooks and crannies with seating. Good menu. Family and dog friendly.
The staff were customer focussed at all times.
Easily accessed by road with a reasonably large carpark.
Outside seating available in the large front garden area, though this would give rise to the only setback is that it is on a busy road.
Inside though, there is no traffic noise and it is easy to forget how busy the area can be.
