Horrible hotel. No air con in the rooms, and room keys that don't work. During a 3 night stay we had to get new keys on 5 different occasions.

Also had staffing issues so no chef, manager or assistant manager was available one particular night.

The on site car park is not free (though it does say this when you book, it's just another downside).

The only positive of the whole stay was that the staff were lovely, even when we were moaning. Everything else ensures that we won't be back.

The overall one star is purely for the following 1. helpful desk staff, I requested a cot last minute and it was provided without hesitation. 2. The breakfast had plant based milk options (which I appreciate as my LO has a milk allergy).

Beyond the above, absolutely horrible hotel! I appreciate it is a budget hotel but even then, it isn't worth the money paid. Stayed one night as part of wedding guests and wedding party.

The rooms have no air con, the fan just about blows (hot air at that). I understand the UK has had an unprecedented heatwave, however there was zero cross ventilation available in the rooms. Other parts of the hotel are much cooler lobby and stairwells buy, walk into the corridor for the rooms and you near enough melt immediately.

I had a one year old who was sweltering because the room was boiling (and it wasn't even on the day of highest of temperature). When I complained a staff member informed me that in colder months the rooms and corridors are freezing.

Key card randomly stopped working and the slip in the bathtub is so dangerous. The have a caution sign in the bathroom, but nonetheless the bat tub becomes ridiculously slippery as soon as water starts running.

In my opinion the hotel isn't worth it at all and one wonders if there are any health & safety regulations that need to be reconsidered.

Sauna nothing more if you want to sweat and try getting any sleep (good luck) worst hotel experience ever no shop around for miles and rooms are super warm with a desk top fan.Staff look at you like it is your fault for booking hotel. As it doesn't have AC. Doesn't give excuses to make our stays uncomfortable

Located at the army and navy roundabout. This Travelodge is well located for access to Chelmsford town. It is walking distance of the high street and cricket ground. Has car parking ( need to pay extra) and is opposite a large Aldi and B &M). It is relatively modern. Rooms are large and reasonably priced. The rooms facing the road can have a bit of traffic noise ( depending on if you want window open or closed). The beds are comfortable. The shower and bathroom were clean and decent. In terms of price early booking can be a bit of steal considering location etc

Got there late at night to find we had to pay for 24 hrs in the car park. When we only wanted to be there 7 hours. So that’s a extra charge. Then are room was so hottt even the fan was on when we came in. So they new we were going to be roasted! Then behind a curtain was a mug and flowers stuck in it. Most of them were dead how long that had been in the room I don’t no. So not to sure who does the cleaning. From Angoda who I booked with they said travel lodge will give me a £25 voucher I just have to set up a account with them. I said I was not happy I just want a refund. No can’t do that. So I said fine I have binned there app and don’t ever plan to stay in a travel lodge again. Prem inn from now on when I stay away with work.

Had a lovely big clean room. Food was great and staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again 😊

I checked this hotel for a price a week before a potential night out, by the time we organised and agreed the night out the price had doubled. The hotel is very basic, you could pick 4 or 5 faults in the room and bathroom. The breakfast was awful, burnt bacon, underdone eggs, broken toasting machine (a household 2 slice toaster was in its place which caused quite a queue). Generally this was extremely overpriced and played in the fact that it was last minute. We will never stay here again.

Normal good service at Travelodge hotels. Inhouse cafe/restaurant and twenty minutes walk into the main town. There are bus services but a car would be preferable.
