Booked in as part of a weekend package deal and the hotel exceeded my expectations food was good breakfast was very good and set us up for the day. Rooms and bed was great had a giggle working out how to turn all my lights on. Bathroom well thought out. Substantial car park and good disabled slots we had a large coach which was a challenge for our driver and leaving it off site was a better bet. Would I go back yes it helped make our weekend.

I can't really leave a huge review for placement of the hotel as I was on a coach trip and didn't really spend any time out of the hotel as we arrived in the evening and left 1st thing in the morning. The room was a basic room but had what you needed for a 1 night sleep. But if you value your stomach or taste buds I recommend you don't have any cooked food from here. The evening meal was shocking, it was still frozen (fish & veg) the veg wasn't drained and the bottom of the plate was swimming in water. The next morning we came down for breakfast and again the food wasn't cooked enough at all. In all honesty a bit of CPR and the pig would've been oinking again. Cereal choice and bread was good but that was it. Just don't serve "cooked" food and you'd have had another 2 stars. Hope I never go here again.
Shocking food service.

The actual hotel and stay is good.

The welcoming by staff at reception could be improved by welcoming guests. On arrival, 3 members of staff was on reception, had to wait app. 90 seconds. A member of staff known to be Sharon just asked "What's your name, love" was her actual words. No welcoming with Good afternoon. On a guest view, this was not nice and welcoming at all. Otherwise hotel would have got a higher rating.

Lovely Physical Ambience with lovely shared spaces decor and bedroom decor.

Comfortable bed, clean and attractive bedroom and bed. Excellent sleep!

Good breakfast but lacks extra punch as no mushrooms served to make it the fantastic English breakfast!

Don't book this hotel if you have cooked food as a cancer patient or survivor as they lack compassion to provide fridge space to preserve your special diets!

Overall, good stay with excellent physical properties but human factor lacking from senior management!

Chosen for convenience as a stopover on journey to see family and friends. Easy to find with ample parking. Nice welcome from lady on the checking desk. Warm clean room with usual facilities tea/coffee etc. Even though room was at front near the main road it was very quiet at night and first thing in the morning. Good choice at breakfast with staff on hand to replenish food and clear the tables. Like the choice of “pack and go” to eat later with a sandwich bag rather than wrap food in napkins.

I liked the large car park, there was enough room to park my van which is often an issue. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. The shower was instantly hot , stayed at the same temperature and was powerful enough.
We chose to eat breakfast at the green (quiet) time but it was still rather chaotic and items were running out, people were waiting around for them to be refilled.
My elite gold status was not recognised.

Room was very clean and bed was so comfy. The staff where really friendly and helpful. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend.
On the downside which needs some improvements. The fact that as a coach trip customer we where only offered 2 choices of meal of a chilli or hunter’s chicken. Most of the plates where left hardly touched so standard speaks for itself. Kids where only offered 1 choice. . The chicken was dry and overcooked the sauce had evaporated. The breakfast was ok and adequate for the day. The staff in the restaurant where very nice and as my companion is gluten-free she was looked after and happy with her meal. I would advise that you give the kitchen staff better quality food to serve for the evening meal and deliver earlier in the evening instead of 7.30 at night. Possibly the food was prepared too early so just make a the service time earlier????

I think for what you pay, it’s in line with the expectations.

Reading the reviews, I almost didn’t want to leave one as it’s pretty clear that between Barbara and Sharon they run the joint and set their own standards instead of those of the company. Unless you leave a positive one you just get told why what you’ve written is wrong. Some of the responses from staff are very abrupt, rude and unprofessional. I’m surprised it doesn’t come from a more corporate level or get questioned. Not very customer focussed.

In any case, the room was clean and well presented. The hotel smells quite strongly of smoke though, on the second floor, with it’s guests very obviously smoking cannabis here too. I’m sure I’ll get shot down for saying that with some abrupt response like “not sure what you expect us to do about that”, but I guess trying to enforce the no smoking law would some what would help. The how is for you to work out.

The wait for someone to tend the bar was quite long, a number of times I was waiting 5 or more minutes, again, I’m sure I’ll have some rude response here. To be clear it wasn’t busy, just understaffed.

The restaurant/bar/seating area is nothing short of disgusting. Half of the seats had food remains on them, crumbs, stains, sauces etc; with tables not been regularly cleared and lots of the seats showing heavy wear. Investment and attention is needed here.

The breakfast was awful. The sausages we’re that over cooked or perhaps had been sat in the holder for too long, until this morning I have never seen anyone peel a sausage. The bacon was similar. We sat down at 0700, not like it was the end of service.

There is cereal, which I had, you can’t really go wrong with cereal.

Be wary, but I think you get what you pay for.
