Great proximity to the city, but the hotel itself is dire. The room wasn’t dirty per se, just dusty, old and worn. The window frames were worn and flaking, the bathroom was dingy, toilet barely flushed and our room overlooked a big rubbish pile at the back of the hotel.

This Travelodge is in an old building and has issues ralted to this such as windows being in a terrible state and noisy floors. However carpets need a deep clean, lights need fixing, and bathrooms need more attention such as overflow really nasty, stained drains, corners of floors stained, toilet bowl stained...
But... the location is fantastic! Literally across the road from old town and all that it has to offer.
Service is friendly and they work with what they have. Breakfast which is paid for is OK, however, there are nice places nearby if you have time.
We had a room for 2 adults and was adequate.

Small but comfortable room, large shower room recently updated. No lifts, quiet, excellent location. Was lucky to get car park space, £6 a day August 2022.

The hotel on the outside is very shabby looking. The rooms are OK in size and the beds comfortable but that where the good ends. The room we were given for a 2 night stay was not particularly clean or well kept. There are smoke detectors over the beds which flash red lights all night so don't expect to get a good night's sleep if you sleep on your back. When we asked the staff if this was normal we were given 2 different stories and then told all hotels are like this.....well they are not, we stay in about 20 different hotels per year all around the country and this is the only time we have been kept awake with flashing lights. We we book Travelodge again for our travels, very unlikely after this experience.

We stayed here for one night in October. We had previously stayed there 3 years prior.
As others have mentioned, it is showing it's age, however was good value for money in a great location.
The room was clean and functional.
There's a great little pub (Two Sawyers) just 70 metres away.
We've stayed in a few Travelodges and Premier Inns this trip throughout the UK. I have to say the Premier Inns are better value for money. The rooms are bigger and more modern, and the bar/restaurant/food is way superior.
Often the Travelodges have no restaurant/bar at all.

We have stayed here three times now. Each was due to a visit to the University which is walking distance. Its the best priced, most central hotel with parking. You have to pay £6 for 24 hours parking, but you are bang centre of town. The rooms are a good size, warm in winter, cool (window open) in summer, and have tea and coffee making facilities. WiFi is £3 for 24 hours and is fast. The local shops are on your doorstep, as are takeaways and restaurants. We use Chom Chom (Indian Chinese Buffet) which is just over the road. Plenty of friendly pubs nearby. The staff are helpful. Breakfast and Dinner options are excellent and reasonably priced. The rooms are clean. It's a safe and welcoming location which we will use again. Not a Five Star, but practical and well priced and comfortable.

It was refreshing to experience good customer service. We were disappointed in a lack of availability of some breakfast items one morning but, to be fair other days we didn't get up in time. Every thing else was superb. For anyone travelling with elderly / disabled highly recommend you choose this hotel. More reasonable than both the Hilton and Premier but, infinitely more suitable.

Easy to find, nice staff. It was soooo cold out.
Got to my room, the heating was o and the room was nice and warm.
Like I was being expected, LooooooL.
Good parking availability.
Comfy beds, am not a fan of the Travelodge hotels,
But this was a really nice one - albeit old style (they still use actual keys)
Quite quaint actually, couldn't stay for breaking unfortunately.
