Wow. Stay somewhere else. Anywhere else! I would give this place no stars if I could. This place is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. To begin with, the staff became defensive when they couldn't find our second room booking. The place lacked any atmosphere, the beds were purely springs, and the windows didn't seem to block any of the sound from the street below even though they were closed. But we thought we would just give it a go considering we were only planning to be there for one night. I regret that we didn't just leave right away. We went out for the evening and we're told to enter through the back door when we came back for which we had a key. When we tried the key upon returning, it did not work. We tried for several minutes and then called the number on the door because there are no onsite staff and were told by a very unpleasant man that he would be there in a minimum of 15 minutes. We had not anticipated having to wait so long outside (it was very cold and one of our party needed to go to the bathroom) and asked if someone could be here sooner. We were promptly told that they couldn't be there sooner and they were happy to cancel our booking if we wanted. Considering that we had already checked in and that all our bags were already in the hotel, this response did not go down so well with us and they responded that they didn't care if we couldn't access our belongings. The guy showed up 20 Minutes later and even he couldn't unlock the door. Eventually, he got in through another door and then let us in to the hotel. The only reason we stayed the night is that we were with our older parents who were very tired at this point and did not want us to make the 2.5hr drive home at 2am. If we had been by ourselves, we would have simply grabbed our bags and left. These people should not be allowed to work in the hospitality industry.

Room smelled really bad and TV didn't work. Had to rewash all clothes in suitcase as smell permeated through. Terribly loud at night due to location near the nightclub Using a shower liner instead of a shower curtain so impossible to shower without it sticking to your body. And no toiletries were provided not even soap. Wouldn't stay again.

The hotel has been refurbished nicely and staff pleasant. My room smelt like someone had been playing rugby and left their socks in the room for a week which meant I had to have the window open all night and it was freezing.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon and the receptionist checked us in to room number 3 . We had chosen somewhere with a bistro and bar but the kitchen was closed and bar closed by 19.45 and no breakfast on offer either.
We therefore went out to eat and on return at 19.45 the place was in darkness and no staff available so we had to go to our tiny room.
We noticed that the door had previously been broken and the lock had been repaired with plastic wood and screws that did not fix the lock to the door adequately which was disconcerting.
We eventually went to sleep as were travelling early the next day, unfortunately, midnight arrived and we were woken by violent banging on the front door. We spoke out of window to say no staff available but there was a phone number to ring on back door. Half an hour later the manager arrived and he let the latecomers in, unfortunately voices were raised and I had to leave our room to ask that they keep their voices down.
We were feeling quite insecure and would never stay there again.

Recently changed its name to La Espanola. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Rooms clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. (Room 9)
The food was excellent and enjoyed every meal here. It also has a 5star hygiene rating. Free wifi and parking at the rear. Tesco is literally a 2 min walk. Big screen tv in room also.
If working in the area again will definitely be staying.

Very poor, advertised as Twyford Inn 600 from castle with city views, all wrong.
Arrived to find La Espanola near Tesco and not castle.
Room dirty with rust/mould in shower, excessive dust , mould on walls.
Owner would not refund so we stayed the night but did not use facilities.
At 8.30am ground floor all locked with no staff available.
Previous evening several slices of bread on radiator to kitchen, not hygienic.
Tv did not work, small tv coaxial broken, had staff to fix!
Premier Inn next time, cheaper and good quality!

We arrived late Sunday evening, had a good sleep in the decent family room, only to wake up and realise the pillow cases had mold on them!! Horrified and disgusted. Such a shame.

Nice hotel, clean, comfortable and great location.

It is a shame the shower next door causes the pipes to vibrate with a horrendously loud noise that we woke up startled. Great place when rhe plumbung is fixed.
