A very disappointing weekend stay.
*paid for 2 garden view rooms- one overlooked wasteland apparently a (meadow view room? ) this information is nowhere on website, no other room available. would give us a free drink to compensate- no thankyou, its a mockery. Confirmation email stated both garden view rooms and together.
*rooms to be together - no
* no towels- had to collect some from reception.
* room really needs updating and repairs completed
* room not tidied- bed not made, tea coffee not replenished, we were told they are short staffed, plus beds are not made every day?.
*water pressure in sink poor and unable to regulate shower temperature.
Have no idea why prices of rooms are so high. what exactly are we paying for?
room was not what we asked for.
still have to pay same price
meals/drinks overpriced.
However, garden nice and sunroom had comfy furniture.

Second time I've stayed here and I absolutely love it!

Rooms are basic but comfortable, all you need for this kind of place as the scenery is unbelievable.

We put in from Ross to paddle down here, can take it out or put in from the hotel if you're staying here, there's a car park but the hotel will give you a pass.

The garden is stunning and only a 2min walk to the pub Ye Old Ferrie and river crossing.

Staff are great and food was delicious.

Had more fun at funerals sadly and there was just as much atmosphere at them as well. Cheesy chips over cooked and seemingly cooked in the depths of hell, sandwich was definitely made by a blind man as the butter was everywhere but the inside of the sandwich. Never heard Swedish drum and base hopefully never will again, sounded like a fish being wacked against the side of his captors boat while a synth plays in the background while a puppy is drowned, it sounds similar to what I imagine a bad LSD trip feels like. I wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy. The gaff is not good lads and ladies x

Marina and all the staff were so welcoming. We were here for a line dancing weekend. Rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. Food was excellent. The ballroom was lovely too. This is obviously a work in progress and we cannot wait to see the end result. We will be back.

For us this was a stopover as part of our trip. Overall the experience was a positive one.
The welcome was genuinely warm, and the friendliness of the staff remained notable throughout our single night stay.
The restaurant was clean and airey and safe distancing easily achieved. The food was very good: fresh and tasty, and the portions generous.
The bedroom was also clean and tidy. This is an old building but furnishings were serviceable and certainly adequate for our needs. I have read elsewhere that the beds were inadequate. We, however, had a good night's sleep with no discomfort.
The plumbing works fine except that the shower needs to be run for a time before the hot water comes through.
English breakfast was not up to the standard of the previous evening meal. I agree with a previous review that the sausages were a poor example.
This is a three star country hotel on the way up and having had conversations with the owner I firmly expect improvements to continue.
Good value for money.

There are many bad things and many good things about this hotel. I have read that there are new owners since August 2020 so I am not sure what improvements they have made or are making.

We had room 9 Twin Beds
Negatives:

Both single beds had a thin mattress and were very uncomfortable and we woke up with back pain Every time you moved it creaked load enough to wake the other person up.
The room was sort of clean though the coving had not dust webs. The bathroom needed a very deep clean. See pics.
The shower had not power and it took ages to wash down.
We stayed 3 nights and the rooms were not refreshed. Bins were not emptied, towels were not replaced.
The bedroom had a 2-gang electric socket with tape around it. Is this even safe? See pic.

Positives:
Good location.
Room was big and spacious as was the bathroom.
Every member of staff was friendly.
The Fusion restaurant served a variety of dishes and the food was nice.
Nice communal area to site inside with a drink from the bar and look out to some amazing views.
Nice big garden with seating.

We booked a king sized room
With a garden view. What we got was a room that was dark and overlooked a corrugated roof and the car park. The wallpaper was lifting in the corner of the room, the bathroom needed updating, net curtains up the windows were damp as no extractor fan in there. The shower cubicle small and water pressure very poor. I had let them know prior to visiting that I had to have gluten free, we had prior booked a room at the restaurant so we ordered from the traditional English menu. Told No chicken! Never heard of. Restaurant with no chicken nothing else suitable so just had chips and peas. Another waitress who bought meal then said they had a large group in so ‘no time’ to cook grilled chicken meal, flabbergasted! Anyway bed not comfortable so tired and so disappointed we checked out following morning a day early. We were offered a new room as we checked out but would have liked the room we actually booked on check in. No apology given, no refund offered, in fact no acknowledgement reply from hotel via email.
Hotel has lots of steps inside and out so not suitable for disabled or people with dietary intolerances or allergies.
