The West Retford Hotel (Best Western)

Rooms have no air conditioning and became hot and stuffy. High noise level on weekends until midnight. Loud DJ music kept us awake. No room refrigerator or water provided. In general the desk and dining staff weren't friendly. In one occasion, for breakfast at 9AM we were told to switch tables because we sat at a table that was reserved for luncheon! The front desk reception told us that they didn't have time to call a cab! We were in town for a wedding and stayed 10 days!
The housekeepers were great!

We've had some lovely meals here over the past few years, the sandwiches are mostly good and the afternoon teas are delicious
But yesterday we had a funeral tea here for my late Mother-in-Law and while the food was as good as ever, not one member of staff spoke to us, no-one welcomed us in or asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything. I had to ask when the food was being brought out as most people were there and the buffet table was still empty. All in all very disappointing service on what was a sad day anyway

Feels like an English Estate upgraded an converted to a hotel. Reasonably modern. Nice bathroom. Great location. Good restaurant with awesome desserts. Two opportunities for improvement: (1) the heated towel rack in the bathroom prevents comfortable access to the toilet- it is too close the the toilet and wold be dangerous if heated, and (2) there was only one accessible electrical outlet and no USB outlets. Otherwise a solid location to stay.

Held a black tie charity ball for Sheffield Children's Hospital. Jessica was fantastic at helping with all the planning and lead up to the event. All staff were excellent on the evening. Would highly recommend. Food beautiful.

Popped in to make a booking for festive lunch for 3 person's. Fully booked in main restaurant but fitted me in another bar area. Perfect. The lady in reception made me feel so special. Love this place. I always feel that it wraps it's arms around me when I go through the door. This is so important to me at this time whilst I am grieving. Thank you to all the staff Judy

Checking was smooth. I arrived very late and was checked in by the night porter. Hotel has plenty of car parking. Room was okay. Breakfast was fine but not exceptional. Buffet breakfast with hot food cooked by order. Nice setting at breakfast. I walked into town, which is only about 10 mins away. Nice town centre. It was a market day. Nice market. A good market town with lots of different types of shops. Not convinced it is a Best Western Plus.

We went for a lunch. Attentive service. Food nice & well cooked, but nothing out of the ordinary. Not much to choose from, so not hard to decide what to eat. Hardly anyone else in the dining room so felt it lacked any atmosphere. Decent price for a 2 course lunch. Would go again.

Lovely room, nicely furnished, a little dated for my taste but nothing to complain about. Nice and quiet too. Super happy for the additional pull out bed for my daughter as there were 4 of us in the family room. Everything worked well except the shower didnt have much pressure and went hot and cold at times but it was fine.
The complimentary soaps and lotions in the bathroom smell divine. Wishing I would have noted down the brand. tea, coffee and biscuits were also lovely.
Service was fantastic. Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was also very nice. A good selection and catering for allergies (wheat and milk).
On site parking was very nice and its very easy to find.
Its been my second time staying here and I look forward to visiting again
