Staff were very friendly, room was clean and not overly noisy despite being on a busy road. Very comfortable sleep. Easy to park not overly expensive, great breakfast (additional cost) and on site facilities. The only downside is the shower, no matter how you set it, it would randomly turn freezing and then scolding hot maintain and then repeat freezing, scolding hot. On departure we informed reception as it was only one night not too problematic for us but a few days we would not be happy.

Novotel Schooner Way was my wedding venue and we had the most wonderful wedding day - absolutely perfect for us. The wedding package was absolutely excellent value, the venue is gorgeous, the accommodation was so comfortable, the food was delicious (during the day and during the evening) and the staff were entirely incredible. The team could not have done any more for us, they were all amazing - so genuinely lovely and attentive throughout our stay to us, the newlyweds, but also to every single one of our guests. Staff are an absolute credit to the Novotel and made the entire weekend feel extra special. It was an absolutely brilliant experience and I can't recommend it enough to everyone. We are going back to spend our anniversary there cause we loved it!

A very lovely hotel, A little over-run with refugees when I visited the children just run around didn't bother me because I have kids myself but some it would bother.

Me and my children made amazing use of the pool. The rooms were big & clean the breakfast was phenomenal it was a help yourself buffet style no corners cut the buffet catered to everybody.

My only complaint was no air con which would've been brilliant as my daughter fell ill in the evening with a fever

Cannot fathom how this is a 4-star hotel.

1 - There is no air con in some of the rooms.
After two staff members told us maintenance would look into it. The following day another staff member mention that no air-con is common in a lot of the rooms, and that we had booked one of those rooms? Gave us a fan to compensate...

2 - Showers fluctuate from cold to extremely hot.
Tried a bunch of settings and there is no way to get around this.

3 - Booked specifically for the sauna and pool. Both were closed for one of the two nights we stayed. No sign of compensation.

I would not recommend this hotel, you'll receive far better service for the same price elsewhere. I'll be passing this experience on to others.

No doubt there'll be a generic copy/paste response below this from the staff. The decent thing to do would be to compensate those who've had a bad experience. I've stayed in nicer hostels...

Overall had a good experience, Marcus at reception and the restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was ok, we had to ask for complimentary water and milk for the days we stayed. Swimming pool was good. ample parking facilities. The breakfast was awesome.

OK. So this is the story. We booked this place as it was central, seemed family friendly and had a pool. A week before we were due to go we received an email to say that the swimming pool was out of action as maintenance had taken longer than expected. I was a bit grumpy at this because a swimming pool was a priority for us as we have kids.
One phone call later they offered a 20% discount which would enable us to pay for a couple of visits to the local pool. We were happy at this.
When we arrived everything was just as you would expect: a fairly standard modern chain hotel. The range of food available for breakfast we excellent and the full English buffet was fresh and regularly topped up.
Upon leaving I went to pay for the parking but was told that this too was waived. I was shocked at this. They went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy. They really turned a negative first impression around to a positive. I will definitely look to book a Novotel again - both for work trips and family holidays.

We had a need to stay that night due to lost car key. We booked late; it was about £140 for a few hours sleep and breakfast.

We were "upgraded" to an executive room with a balcony, which we (my two sons and I) were excited about - until we tried to sleep. There's a constant rumbling from the nearby top of the main building which I presume is where the aircon/heating is located, but you can get used to that.

What you can't get used to is the intermittent and unstoppable sound that came from somewhere inside one the room's fan / vents. I tried turning everything off, then on, then seeing if I could identify the source - nothing helped. I lay awake most of the night, in an otherwise lovely room, calculating how much per hour this was costing me. My kids did not sleep well either.

I didn't bother trying to get moved rooms as we'd been "upgraded" at there were no other rooms.

Then to breakfast... The room was cold, and everywhere seemed to be subject to a cold breeze. We weren't lucky enough to benefit from the fan heaters I could see in there, so we just ate quickly and left.

Aside from that, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The loan of a phone charger was much appreciated.

I did raise the room noise issue when we checked out, and was offered a 10% which then moved to a 20% refund, but I still feel like we hugely overpaid for an awful night's sleep in what is supposedly one of your best rooms.

Price will have to be very good - and the pool would have to be working - to consider a future stay, which is a shame as it is - was - our favourite hotel in Cardiff.

Clean, warm, nice big TV and a fridge 👌 Nice bar and restaurant, food was good. Unfortunately asylum seekers were being interviewed on the next table to me during breakfast, maybe a separate room would be a good idea, and I don't advise going for breakfast in shorts and t-shirt, was freezing in restaurant, maybe coat hat and scarf 🥶
