Holiday Inn Express Cardiff Bay, an IHG Hotel

Stayed here 2 yrs ago in a family room, experience was nice with generous breakfast and facilities. they've now converted those rooms into suites for a higher price point and the new family rooms are not suitable for families of 4 even as once sofa bed is out barely any space to walk. No decent closet. Only surface to put anything on is teeny tiny side table ans a small awkard table in the corner that the sofa bed blocks. No fan in the washroom. Bed was also very lumpy. During our stay it was exceptionally hot outside with temps of 26-27 which inside the stuffy small room felt like 35 degrees. Their AC system was down but somehow still working in the lobby...no one got any sleep. breakfast while decent was scaled back from what it was 2 years ago and next time i would opt for a different hotel so we can get decent space to walk around and a working AC in the summer is a must in these hot hotel rooms. I have to say staff was polite and nice and listened to any requests.

Rooms do not have working air conditioning and are very hot. No fans either. Hard to sleep and relax in room.

Shower also has a slow drain and fills with water while showering.

People were nice, decent breakfast and great to have a bar and outdoor seating area by the water.

Great stay here, the suite was spacious and well-appointed with a kitchenette. Wine and cheese social every night and hot breakfast every morning.

Front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It was a little bit of a distance from the city centre so we often had to get a car rather than walking.

The hotel has obviously undergone a recent refurbishment. Our room was clean and tidy ideal for a short city centre stay. All staff were helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was included in the price and was reasonable but a little limited. Overall a great value for money stay.

This is an amazing hotel with great staff. Always happy to help. It is an easy walking distance from Cardiff City y centre and university, which was great fir my daughters open day. Staff were happy to give us directions and answer any questions.

The room was great, comfy bed and enough room to put up our son’s travel cot. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was great, not had many experiences with hotels and great showers. The only thing that let it down was the breakfast - normally we look forward to having holiday inn express breakfasts but this was not to their usual standard plus the coffee machine was out of order. The staff also looked rushed off their feet because orange juice jug got asked for and wasn’t put out for a while.

Great room plenty of space and bed very comfortable. Good space in bathroom. Staff very friendly but could really have better used 'quieter time ' to attend to the waterside area which from a passer by perspective wasn't appealing to the eye. Discarded cups, litter and 2 non functioning pyramid heaters should have been removed. Lounge area comfortable and clean 👌.

Good location, the hotel is clean and well appointed. The room was a good size. The staff were brilliant, super friendly and accommodating for storing expressed milk for the baby and making sure we had access to it at all times. Breakfast was nice - overall a lovely overnight stay.
