Never been disappointed until this visit. Went for lunch, starters and dessert were great as usual. Main course, wife and daughter had fish which was beautiful. I had burger, which was nicely done, but the pattie was not the best. Brioche bun, egg, salad and bacon were nice, but pattie was so so at best. And we all agreed the triple fried chips/wedges were just too oily. Sad to give poor review. Never been disappointed with the Bear before.

We came for Sunday lunch and left disappointed. The service was ok, but our food was not to the usual standard the Bear serves. Three out of four patrons were ill following the meal, so this would definitely put us off from coming again unfortunately.

Had lunch there yesterday, chips were raw and looked like roast potatoes, the staff didn't clean our table of coffee mugs from the previous customers. When I asked for a glass of red wine the barman didn't ask if I had a preference and whilst looking for the toilet to take my daughter the lady on reception didn't acknowledge us just kept her head buried in the screen of her computer which I thought was rather rude

Great service, staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant meal excellent, breakfast spot on, Full English looked massive, need a good appetite!! Lots of convenient parking out the back.

Stayed over with their Sunday offer of room, dinner & breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed!
The courtyard room was very clean and welcoming, especially for your dog with bowls & bedding provided - massive help.
The food was delicious and good quality both breakfast & dinner.
Great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant, visited in Autumn so the fires were on and very cosy.
Ate breakfast in the old part of the pub in the window booth - such fun watching the world go by. ☺️
Went with a group of friends, six of us in total and we were very well looked after, nothing too much trouble.
Looking forward to visiting again with my husband.

Lovely room, excellent service from the staff. I had the burger at their restaurant which compares very very well to the fancy burger joints in London. Brownies also excellent

The food was a little disappointing to be honest. I had gammon aggressive and chips with a potabello mushroom.

The gammon was of questionable quality and single the potabello mushroom wasn't much bigger than a 50 pence piece.

Went for a pre-arranged afternoon tea and had sent our dietary requirements beforehand. The gluten-free option was ridiculous- the cakes had clearly come out of a packet from a supermarket and nowhere near the standard of the non gluten free option. The pre ordered sandwiches without butter appeared to be a step too far for the kitchen staff. We waited 30 mins for them and had to ask 4 times - and 3 times we were asked if we wanted margarine instead.... The entertainment, however, was absolutely amazing.
