It was like a world on it's own. Just 2 nights for 35 wedding anniversary. The Forrest and stream coming down the mountain was such a pleasure. Best 2 nights away anywhere. So quiet and comfortable. Reminded me of an old western movie saloon. Lovely owner. Some renovations going on. Can't wait to stay again.

This place is a hidden gem in the welsh mountains. The views are amazing and the stream is great for paddling in by the kids (or dogs if you are bringing them as it is pet friendly). Went here for my best friends wedding and it was amazing. The rooms were clean and plenty of clean towels and complementary toiletries to wash with. Plenty of tea and coffee as well. Was a very warm welcome by the host on arrival. Only downside was pipes clanging until 4am in the morning. It was really loud above our room and felt like some kind of torture.

So im editing my recent review….we have been coming here for a couple of years, and its evident tht this place is beautiful in many ways, frm the very clean rooms, spectacular view and Sue & her team. We have JUST returned from getting married in Wales and we had our reception at the Falcoln…..WOW! Food was amazing, and the room decor was exactly wht we wnted. There were plenty of it & her bar service was swift & Sue even went out of her way to get other bits in requested by guests. I know family members will be booking very soon for a break. Thankyou once again! Dawn & Ian Rowberry xxx

We only stayed one night thank goodness. Didn't get there till later in the evening and the noise from the garden area was deafening. We were hoping it would stop during the night but in the end my husband had to call reception and was told the customer had bought the music with them and hopefully they would leave shortly. The room was very small and not the cleanest. We had our dog with us so there wasn't a lot of choice in the area. Won't be staying again.

A hidden gem!! Attended a wedding here a few weeks back, and for their first wedding at the venue, it was easily the best wedding I have ever photographed, The bar staff were brilliant, even joining in the wedding at the end of the night, and the venue itself is just beautiful.

From reading previous reviews it seems like for many the Falcon Retreat is a bit like marmite you either love it or hate it.
Personally i love it, it felt a like home from home and will be returning.
There was some renovation work going on but noise was minimal and we are excited to see the finished results.
The barn exceeded our expectations and had everything we could possibly need.
Sue was very pleasant and did everything to ensure our stay was as relaxing as possible. Breakfast was lovely on all three days and it was so nice to eat to the sound of birdsong and the Brook bubbling past.
This is a dog friendly establishment and the barn has ample room for larger dogs such as our akita so we will definitely be looking at staying again, hopefully with the dog next time.
Thank you to Sue for such a pleasant experience.
Stay was August Bank Holiday weekend 2022

We looked everywhere for somewhere to stay and this was the only place that had a room available which we were very thankful for. It was clean to look at but the shower wasn’t very clean inside and there were empty coffee sachets with the new ones, the bed wasn’t very comfortable and all the towels had marks on. It was okay but not worth the money. Also after 20 mins of trying to get the tv to work we gave up and it there was an annoying banging noise at 5am that woke us both up

On arrival we thought we'd come to the wrong place, it looked run down and derelict, a load of builders vans and rubbish. The approach road was awful, very steep and narrow, lots of potholes and a risk of ending up in the stream. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, but the room was not up to standard, it was cramped with a double and a single beds, no room for a bedside cabinet, and the tv was a joke, it was tiny, mounted on a bracket up in the corner above the wardrobe. There was no dressing table, no hair dryer, not that there was anywhere to plug it in near the mirror. The shower room was adequate, plenty of hot water, but the pipes banged, and we were woken up whenever anyone else used the toilet or ran the tap. Also if anyone moved outside, the room was flooded with light from the automatic security lights.
