Lovely Victorian building a short taxi/ walk up the hill from the station, run by a very friendly couple, and really excellent value, for both room and £5 breakfast. Be aware check-in after 8pm needs to be agreed in advance. Impressive decor in reception and communal lounge, rooms & dining room are nothing fancy but comfortable enough. Would recommend it.

Barry was a great host, accepted us last minute when our plans changed and we didn't have anywhere to stay. Rooms were OK for a guest house, didn't need anything more. A nice guest lounge with comfortable sofas and books, great breakfast ordering system that we unfortunately couldn't try. If I'm ever back in Newport, I'll be staying here again.

It was appalling. I had to wait in the street for half an hour as no one was in. Once in they didn't have a room ready for me. When I eventually got a room it was dirty dingy a d unwelcoming. There was no coffee in room. I was pleased with breakfast the young girl who cooked it was lovely.
On returning at night there was no lights on inside and it was very earie. I went to my room it had not been cleaned no fresh towels or coffee. I went to dining room it was locked.
I went back to my room and put my suitcase on the up against the door.
The nice girl was not doing breakfast and a d what I got was not nice

Best thing was the humbugs was in bowl on way out.
They should of paid the me to stay in there.

Good location, approximately 10 mins walk from central Newport. Comfortable beds.
Poor cleanliness with crumbs and general crud on the floor. One of our rooms had a broken shower and the electricity was unreliable. Staff member was available after check-in to sort out a couple of issues promptly. In general need of refurbishment and a deep clean and it would then have the potential for a decent guesthouse.

Good budget b&b. Tony Is a great host, very accommodating. I had no Issues with the rooms; beds are comfy, rooms are clean. It's no Holiday Inn though! I wouldn't pay a premium.

Without a doubt the most disgusting place I have ever stayed! The rooms were dirty, mold all over the “bathroom” walls, the beds were so old I was literally afraid to pull back the sheets to look at the state they were in, the ceiling light fixture was hanging by the wires, the carpet was threadbare and filthy, not once was it vacuumed during the nearly 3 weeks I was there, absolutely no chance of a refund so had to put up with it! The curtains were ragged basically was one rag over each window, there was actually an extension cable into the “bathroom”?
The door did not close without pushing/pulling it and twice when the towels were changed the door was not secure when I went back later, so do not leave anything valuable in the hovel!
The building needs to be condemned given the floorboards and several of the steps as you enter the place and only appears to be held together by the aforementioned “carpets”!
The place literally stinks of cigarette smoke and mold and I had to buy dettol and air freshener to make it almost bearable, overall a very depressing experience, will NEVER stay there again and given that I found this through “Booking.com” they should also be ashamed! The room walls have dirt and stains that actually look like blood spatter? The sinks have no hot water so in order to shave, had to do that in the shower, given that there was no hot water in the sinks unable to actually wash my hands and face effectively unless actually having a shower! The ONLY positive thing about the place was the water temperature in room 1 was great, after spraying dettol over the shower base before getting into it. I
I took pictures of the state of this place which I am going to submit to Booking.com and maybe the City Council!
There is economy hotel etc, but this place at 145 Stow Hill falls far below that standard, is “Crackhouse” a standard?

Worst place i have ever had the displeasure of sleeping in, mould in the shower tray, the shower head also had black mould in it, hairs in the bathroom and on the bed upon arrival. Very uncomfortable beds, but goodluck sleeping anyway with the constant annoying beep that goes on every 3 seconds. Avoid this place like the plague, as you might actually catch that here.

It was a horrible experience all round the was mold all over the place the roof was leaking more then an o.a.p. Once we did go to sleep because of noisy people in the place. The fire alarm went off at 7.30 and was going off for an hour we was blamed for it yet we was all asleep and non of us smoke.
