The Swan At Hay Hotel

A lovely hotel, traditional but also up to date. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. The Swan is one of those places that leave you confident that you'll be looked after. This is reassuring to know for future visits.

Sam and all of the staff were very friendly and polite, they actually made the stay a pleasure.

Booked through Great Little Breaks. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Bar prices similar to pubs. Food good and plenty of it. Superb garden to finish the day with a drink. Will return I'm sure.

Very disappointing given that their website boasts a £1.5 my refurbishment - no sign of that anywhere and certainly not in our room which was very basic. The bedside 'shelves' were falling off, no dressing table, faded curtains etc. Mouldy ceiling in the bar, dining tables (with no table cloths provided) were old and tatty, the garden looked untouched for many months which is a shame as it's the best bit. Staff were friendly and helpful however.

Didn't stay; popped in for an evening meal. We enjoyed the dinner sitting in the garden; food was delicious and service friendly and relaxed. Highly recommend!

Stayed here ( stayed in June 2021) in August for 4 nights for our Wedding Anniversary. Staff were lovely, very friendly, room 3 overlooked the garden and also main road ( we did request this room after staying last year in room 5 which was a very nice room but wanted the view of the Brecon Beacons). Fan was very welcoming as it was so hot Breakfast was delicious every morning, had two evening meals which we couldn’t fault, one was for our Anniversary when we received a lovely surprise of strawberries with salted caramel dip and chocolate Happy Anniversary on a slate 😋. Sitting in the beer garden was made all the better with the weather and one of the best pizzas we have ever had along with fries and a bottle of Pinot Grigio. Hopefully we will return 🤞

Absolutely stunning little hamlet for book lovers and hikers.
Stayed at The Swan At Hay and the room was small, clean and well equipped with a decent sized en suite.

Over rated. Over priced. Bedroom in coach block was small and cramped, no credible space to store clothing. Bathroom was filthy. Spent the first hour upon check in cleaning cobwebs, spiders and dead flies off the ceiling. Curtain tie backs torn and empty lavatory roll holders under the bed!! I will not be returning!

Couldn't fully shut window, no dbl glazing, so noisy from road. Restaurant not good, veg from freezer, tasting of nothing. Nice old building, but decor bland. Could be much better.
