What a place! If you want a walking weekend away from all mod cons this is the place, surrounded by dramatic mountains and breath taking views this little gem is perfect, take a step back into history with all the artifacts from Edmund Hillary's quests to Everest. Staff are so so helpful and polite and excellent food prepared by the new chef. Definitely going back!!!

What a magical place! The atmosphere is truly something else.

The team is young, professional and extremely friendly. The kitchen is extraordinary (5*). And the rooms are clean and authentic.
We especially enjoyed the sauna in the backyard after our walks and a swim in the clear lake with this impressive mountain view.

We stayed here for a family reunion (a group of 20!) and no matter the chaos the team was so caring making sure everyone was fed taken care of. We created many new memories during our stay at the Pen-y-Gwryd-Hotel. Thank you!

Amazing old school hotel. Everything is very British and traditional, but very pleasant and enjoyable. Very clean and functional although not luxurious. Felt like we had travelled back in time once entering and we loved every minute of our stay. Come prepared for something different and you will enjoy it too. The food was amazing, staff very accomodating.

WARNING: Not open to anyone but residents! On Wednesday evening we took a bus from Llanberris specifically to visit this well known pub. We arrived and walked up to the doors, which were closed, and a member of staff told us that—since Covid—the hotel bar was no longer open to the public but residents only. The coronavirus pandemic began more than two years ago. We pointed out that there was no indication of this change online, and he just said “it should say”. It doesn’t! Do not try to go here for a drink, even if all indications suggest it is open. We were essentially stranded here with the next bus an hour away. It was clear to the hotel staff that we had made quite an effort to come there, but he wrongly suggested we take a bus back. The buses from there had actually stopped running and we had to hike back up to Pen y Pass. Customers have no way of knowing of such changes if they are not advertised—we are not telepathic. Even if this place opens again, and we are in the area, we will make a point of avoiding it for the callousness and laziness represented by the hotel.

I had the most wonderful stay in an enchanting hotel full of history and character. After hard days on the mountain look forward to hearty food and tails in the smoking room. This is a national treasure - prepare to fall in love!

A simply splendid weekend, at the Classic mountain retreat that is the PYG. Fowl weather makes retreating into the cosy lounges for a well deserved pint all the more comforting. The owners and staff faultlessly helpful and welcoming, and the three course dinner (5 was tempting but too much for me) delicious. Put away your phone, go scout some blustery peaks and enjoy this old school gem. Great.

Food great, character good, lovely atmosphere created by communal food times, really hard working staff but...... Bed was super soft (room 1), real ale was less than desirable,

Definitely going to stay again.
