We had my daughter's wedding here. The staff are wonderful. Very friendly and accommodating. The food was superb and I mean superb. This was a mass catering event, the food didn't reflect this. I'd have happily believed it to be M*. It was perfect. Moving on, a few complaints. The decor is tired and there's some need of repair. This however is completely understandable given the affect covid has had on the service industry. Finally, the resident DJ needs to learn how to read a room! The type and volume of the music drove several people home! He did change the type of music upon request but it was much, much too loud. Guests stayed outside for most of the evening. All in all I highly recommend this venue for wedding or such other celebrations and will definitely be back to take advantage of the peaceful surroundings and the spa.

Perfect location for my travels. It is a lovely place that does not feel like all the rest. Staff very friendly. You can feel they are trying to keep up the up keep. Room fresh and bathroom lovely. Odd bits of wood work tired but it didn't matter to me.

Hotel staff were amazing, couldn’t do enough to help, especially the lovely lady on reception. Hotel and setting is beautiful. The pool and spa were special if a little dark (mood lighting) breakfast was delicious ! I didn’t give 5 stars as I think it could do with a bit of an uplift in some of the rooms. New carpet and wallpaper but honestly it didn’t deflect from the charm of the hotel. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

Booked a night away for my partners birthday. After a climbing sugar loaf mountain we couldn’t wait to get to the 4* hotel to relax and dine. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case.

As we got to our room there was a strong overpowering musky smell, the room was dated and dusty, mould all over the window, mould in and around the bathroom and the flush was broken.

We physically couldn’t bare the smell any longer. I went down to reception and asked for a refund and explained we wouldn’t be staying. Receptionist didn’t seam to bothered and briefly asked what the problem was. After explaining the issue with the room she very swiftly refunded the card and said “sorry your not happy”.

It is clear this is a regular occurrence as nothing was done to rectify the issue. Although grateful for the refund it completely ruined our weekend! A refund certainly doesn’t make up for the fact an hour was spent trying to look for another hotel for the night, which lead to us making the decision to drive home. So disappointed and frustrated that a birthday present has been ruined.

Definitely not worth £159 a night!

Where do we start? The property is set in large manicured gardens and that is the only good point. This hotel is mainly used for weddings, there was a wedding party on the Friday we arrived, the Saturday and on our day of departure, Sunday. To reach reception on the Friday and Saturday we had to walk through drunken smokers and wedding litter. The welcome mat entering reception is filthy and we probably picked up more on our shoes from this that from outside. On reaching our room, that thankfully was well away from the wedding noise, we passed through a corridor that smelt strongly of cannabis. The door to the room (19) has an interference fit with the frame and the only way to close it is to slam it. On entering the room it smelt musky due to the mould on the window crams. The bathroom door could not be shut, due to the interference with the door frame. The bathroom Yoel rail was thick with accumulated dust. The room itself was fine and the bed comfortable, with tea/coffee and two bottles of water provided. Unfortunately, the water was not replenished on day two. On departure on day two, again the corridor smelt very strongly of cannabis. This was pointed out to reception who stated they would resolve the matter. On returning that evening we discovered the solution was to wedge all the fire doors open, not a good idea and completely unlawful. Breakfast was OK, apart from the volume of the pop/rock music and the service of the cooked breakfast. Being served took me back to by Army days, where the counter chef slopped the food on the plate, which is exactly what was done with the scrambled egg and beans. As the experience of the initial arrival was not up to scratch, we did not venture to the Spa. Finally, on check out at 9am the cleaner was hoovering reception, no H&S signs were displayed and as I turned away from reception the reception desk to depart she dragged the hoover and lead right in front of me, which I could have easily tripped on.
Would we stay here again?
Most definitely not.

Lovely hotel we stayed in the annex at the rear of the hotel which was lovely. The room was a bit stuffy even with the window open. The room was clean and had tea and coffee with biscuits which was a nice touch. We ate in the restaurant, lovely menu, nice wine and good service. Spa was lovely too. In short great value for money 💰
