Gandhi Indian Restaurant

Context: Wife and I ate here in Sep-2022 while visiting the city.

Pros: Excellent food. Extensive menu with lots of specials. Relaxed, place. Attentive staff. Good dairy-free options and clear allergy labels.

Cons: None

Note: What we had was a notch or two spicier than similar dishes at other restaurants we've visited, and perhaps hotter than one might expect from the menu's labelling. (Good stuff, though!)

Choices: I had the seabass starter and the beef fry main course (very tender). Both were great.

Conclusion: Strongly recommend.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to!!! Great staff and awesome food (good portion sizes too) - at a fair price. Our group of 8 felt very valued, cheers 🙏👍😊

I was visiting Winchester and came across this most delightful restaurant. The food is excellent and out of this world. Customer service from the staff so helpful and professional. Ronnie made us feel so welcome and nothing was a problem.

Excellent Indian food and service. Very authentic with a good amount of spices. Portion sizes were good as well, with fair prices.

We had such delicious food here last night. I had monk fish curry and bf had ox cheek. Both were so delicious! Staff are very friendly and so attentive. The service was brilliant!! Just to add for the price we paid, we also had a starter and drinks. Thank you! 5⭐

I had the Malbar Fish - it balanced perfectly between packing a tasty punch and not overpowering the fish. Delicious, would definitely recommend the place, the menu is varied and interesting, and you can tell the chef cares about flavour.

Well recommended restaurant has been going since the late 1980's and the decor showed that. However service was excellent and the food faultless although I was a bit worried when my garlic chilli chicken turned up with no sauce! Here they serve it separately.

Chicken tikka masala

Trio of grilled chicken - chicken tikka, hariyali chicken (basil and mint) and makhani chicken tikka (cashew nut and cheese).

Gandhi special - tikka with almond, cashew nut.

Thoughts 💭
The trio of chicken was exceptional and really juicy. I haven’t had tandoor grilled chicken that good since I have landed back in the UK. The currys were both very good I especially enjoyed the Gandhi Special.
