Beautiful restaurant, immaculate and precisely layed out cutlery on the tables. Food, very tasty could not finish it all so took the leftovers home. Very quick service, exceptionally quick. I've waited 20 - 30 minutes plus for meals in other restaurants but roughly 10 minutes and voila. However back home 5 hours later both my daughter and I suffered terrible stomach cramps for hours later sadly. Great service from all the staff but something was not right.

My partner and I made the visit from High Barnet to come and visit Amrit's and we had a fantastic meal. The service was prompt and polite and the food was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Butter Chicken, which was not too sweet and perfectly balanced. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and is nicely decorated. A real gem of a restaurant in St Albans - we will be sure to come back again soon! Special thanks to Damish, who was our server for the evening and took our order and served us very quickly. If you are looking for a friendly and tasty Indian in Hertfordshire, look no further.

Fresh clean bright and airy, this restaurant is a delight. The food tasted quite authentic. The service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely use this restaurant again. Definitely a good Indian food restaurant

Absolutely amazing food. Service was very attentive but not intrusive. Was in St Albans on a work thing with a colleague and we decided to pop in - so glad we did!

Food was beautiful - Abz and the team were great; he recommended a Lamb Shank dish which was lush; I would have never thought of it.

We've booked for tomorrow night as it was so good - if you're in St Albans and you're hungry then eat here!

Absolutely fantastic time in Amrit! The staff is very professional, this level of service would usually come from a lot more expensive place. The food was very tasty and delicious, with good portions. Shout-out to Monwar, he made the difference, the evening won't be forgotten for a while 😄

My husband and I visited Amrit last Saturday evening, And we really enjoyed the evening.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Our waiter Aby was brilliant. Very attentive and always smiling.
My only issue is that it’s was a tad expensive. I know it’s more of a restaurant than your typical local Indian so I understand the price differences. But was expensive for a “curry”.
That being said. I would
Go back. Just wouldn’t be a regular visitor.

Came here with 5 friends. We pre-booked for a Friday night for which they asked £30 to secure. Please note this wasn't a card-prepayment which more professional restaurants tend to do, they actually take £30 off your card over the phone, so beware of this when making a booking. Anyways, we sat down and ordered, everything was generally fine, service was efficient providing us with plenty of tap water when needed. However, we did feel a little rushed at times. The food unfortunately was sub-par. I ordered a mixed-grill which was dissatisfying in the fact that my friend who ordered a chicken shashlick had many more vegetables on his sizzler than I did, I order the mixed grill due to having the veggies! There was only one prawn and very few pieces of meat. Taste wise it was alright. Speaking to my friend about their curries afterwards and they found them to be somewhat lacking too. It is worth noting that they charge £2 for each chutney tray and £0.80p per poppadom, the chutney trays of which they just gave us two when we probably would've been fine with one. Generally, it was expensive for what we got.

Overall there is nothing special about this place and there are MUCH better places for curry in St Albans in my honest opinion. I won't be coming here again.

So today, December 9, 2020, appears to be the first day of opening of this new restaurant. We were a great fan of Devdas and were sad to see it decline (in custom, not standard of food) in recent years.

We wish this new restaurant every success and will visit very soon. Until then I shall give it 5 stars, based upon their optimism in these Covid times and the new decor. Good luck, guys!

PS. Finally ate here - June 2021! The food, service and decor exceeded our expectations. A few new additional pictures…

PPS. A November 2021 update! In the last few months this place has really taken off; deservedly so. Great food, including modern twists on traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, and even better service. Subtle Christmas decorations - definitely worth booking for a group celebration. One new picture of the lovely staff.
