Urban Guj - Indian Street Food - Croydon

A nice place with nice ambience. Most of the items were tasty. Would surely recommend some brewed ginger tea and also pani puri😍😍😋okra fry will be a good choice. Missed out on a few more dishes, hope to try soon and update the review😉

This was my first visit to Urban Guj and I went with my family. The menu is really varied and maybe a little over complicated so our large food order came out in many different stages. The staff are great, very engaging, helpful, they make great milkshakes and masala chai! I would definitely recommend this place.

Truely urban, relaxed atmosphere. Classic chat place! liked the selection of masala chai, Bombay sandwich etc.. must try place!!

Amazing staff, so friendly. Nice layout, enjoyed sitting here. The food could be a bit more tastier but still really good.

Many places boast of serving Indian street food, but, they either fail to reproduce the authentic taste or have too few options on their menu. I was therefore sceptical of this place but, I need not have worried!
Not only they have plenty to serve, covering different regions on India, but they also taste good. I am yet to come across a place that serves pau bhaji in London , the way I like it!!
The only person behind the counter was extremely patient and helpful, going through all my questions about the menu.
However, for those who are health conscious, the menu is quite heavy on carbs.
I am a little disappointed on the chana batura. The chana was fantastic but the batura was more like poori than batura. The could not reproduce the soft spongy texture of batura.
The restaurant was squeaky clean, which is reassuring during lockdown and service was fast.
Will definitely visit again to try out the or Street foods on the menu!!

Delicious Gujarati vegetarian food and lovely service courtesy of Kartik! This has been our lock down treat, we love this place. Everything we have tried is delicious. It's great to get home cooked Gujarati food that is just like what my Gujarati friend used to cook for me when I was a student! Can't wait to be able to sit in the cafe again! The music's also excellent!

Incredible food!! Super friendly staff who were extremely accommodating with our vegan requirements. Felt really safe and clean given the current covid climate. I ordered in advance using their click and collect service, and the food was timed perfectly for collection. The food was incredible - definitely recommend the samosa pav, samosa chaat and the milkshakes! Will be back super soon!

After seeing all the good reviews on google I thought I must pay them a visit and was craving some authentic Indian Gujarati food. I was so disappointed with the food.
We ordered for the masala chai which was the only item on the menu worth a 3.5 star rating but it was a bit too watery for my taste.
The next item to arrive was the sev puri. The puris were not as crisp as I would have normally liked them to be. A couple of the puris were mushy.
The vegetable parathas were soft and stale. It felt as though the parathas were microwaved and tasted more like a roti stuffed with bhaaji from the pav bhaaji.
The last but not the least was the samosa which was promised to be a Punjabi samosa but was rather a patti samosa.
At the price point of this restaurant, I would have assumed that they would have satisfied my taste buds at the very least. I am surprised at the number of positive reviews this place has and would hope that the restaurant improves the food standard since I wanted them to be my go to restaurant. Alas, I will have to drive down to Wembley for good food. :(
